Very accommodating and helpful staff (most all spoke at least some English.) Clean with an elegant look. Excellent location. Room was quiet and comfortable. Rooms have safes for valuables. Restaurant was very good. Will stay again.

We just returned from a three night stay at the Majestic Hotel in Barcelona. It is an impressive quiet hotel in a great location. We felt safe and secure and it offered beautiful views of the city. It is within walking distance to many Barcelona attractions. We were very pleased with our choice. This comparable to a four star hotel in America. There are numerous restaurants nearby also. We would definitely stay again.

Majesticly Goodtime

My wife and I just returned from a weeks stay in Barcelona and we loved our hotel and loved Barcelona. The hotel is located in an ideal location - close enough to walk to La Ramblas and the nightlife, but far enough to step away from the commotion to have a quiet walk. If your ideal vacation is to be right in the middle of all the commotion and noise, I would strongly suggest staying at Hotel 1898 (very nice). The Majestic is a very nice hotel with a very impressive fascade at night. The staff was very helpful and nice the entire stay and I did not feel unimportant whenever speaking with any of the staff. The doormen are very helpful in finding close restaurants after a day of exploring - but I would suggest taking a chance and going into a restaurant if it looks good. Housekeeping was very dutiful in cleaning the rooms each day and they very much deserved their daily 2 Euro tip. The amenities were nice for a European hotel. The Majestic has a very nice workout room on the lower level with dumbells, treadmills, and elliptical. The deck on top of the hotel would be the bomb on a nice summer night but even during the day its got great views. Suggestion - you have got to goto Hotel 1898's deck at night during the summer. The bars were nice and very relaxing, however, if you are not under 50 like my wife and I its just ok. In all the Hotel Majestic is about a high 3 to 4 star hotel in America. Beware of the extra charges ie internet, refrigerator drinks etc - your bill does itemize exactly what items they are charging you for so beware or keep track

Hotel Staff Stole My Tenth Anniversary Ring

We stayed at Holtel Magestic on our recent visit to Barcelona, on April 2009. During our stay in Spain we went to Canary Islands for the weekend and then back to the same hotel. We loved our suit, but were shocked when we returned to find out they have stole my tenth anniversary ring along with make up bag, Cashmere perfume and a metal belt. We spoke to the front desk and they did not seem to care much. Also, I spoke to one of the supervisor and that did not help either. They explained to me that the maid did not see any of these items when she was in our room.We were very disappointed with the way they handled this situation.

Maids stole my property

I was shocked to see that the maids rummaged through our suitcases and helped themselves to our property. They took a cell phone and blackberry set up for USA service only. Plus, they took a broken camera. We felt very unsafe staying here. While we toured the beautiful city of Barcellona, our property was up for grabs by the hotel staff! These items have no value to the maids but having them gone is an inconvenience to us. We had trouble meeting the driver of the car service at the airport when we arrived home. Plus we had to arrange for replacement phones. We went on to Madrid from Barcellona and stayed at the Urban Hotel. They delivered a bottle of wine to our room on the first night. We left a tip for the maids for the nice setup on the first day. They left that tip on the desk all week. What a contrast! The Urban truly is a 5 star hotel. This one is not even close.
