Good for the Money

Me and my family just came back from Puerto Vallarta and stayed at the Rosita Hotel for 3 nights. When we first arrived in the hotel room, it was nice and clean. The only thing I really didn't like was that if you end up not getting an ocean view and end up on the street side, there is really a lot of noise of the cars at night when trying to sleep. Everything else was good. The beach is next door instead of being right in front of the hotel. The location is great. I would recommend to a friend.
What They Do, They Do Very Well!

I am an experienced traveller to Mexico, and I give the Rosita 5/5 stars for it being a 3 star hotel. The hotel was built in the 1940's, and at that time it must have been the biggest game in town. It has old-world charm that is somewhat lost now that PV has grown into such a large tourist city. But don't let that scare you. Everything about this hotel speak "Mexican with international hospitality." The front desk was fluent in both Spanish and English. The 7 floor Rosita is at one end of the mile-long concrete boardwalk called The Malecon. At the opposite end is a series of huge mega-hotels. Evenly spaced along the Malecon are touristy nightclubs, restaurants and stores. So the vacationer can choose: a sterile, cookie-cutter room for $*/night at one end of town, or a taste of local flair at The Rosita, for $*/night. PROS: (1) The AC worked well: It was built-in, and NOT simply a window unit cut into the wall. (2) It had the best housekeeping staff I have ever encountered in any hotel I have ever stayed at. The room was just about sanitzed daily. (3) The shower gets an A+. And trust me, you'll use it more than once a day. Hot water all hours of day and night. (4) English channels on TV in room. (5) It is on the beach, though the beach itself is a bit rocky on this side of the Malecon. (6) The lobby is the same as in 1948. No peddler "guest services" booths. (7) Taxis across the street CON: (1) Street noise would only bother someone off the farm. It was mild and actually helped me fall asleep. (2) No screen on bathroom window grille (3) No "Guide to Hotel Services" in room.

the room was nothing like the picture. we were given a room on the street side which was busy and loud. asked if we could upgrade and were told no because we did not book directly through them. the pictures of the rooms are taken of the newer side of the hotel.
Not bad for the money

Not bad for the money but the rooms on the street side are noisy due to traffic. If you are looking for a clean, basic room but with a nice courtyard and restaurant, then I recommend it. Quieter rooms are found oceanside but cost a bit more.
The Hotel is right next to the Malecon boardwalk with it's many shops.

This Hotel is a great no-frills stay. The location is the best feature, right downtown. We even had a street facing room and the noise from downtown was no issue with the window closed. The room we had (which was the lowest price one) had an in-room A/C and TV, but with no remote. The rooms were clean, the service was nice and the pool was nice too. This is by no means luxury but it had a wonderful atmosphere and who can ask for more than that! Enjoy your stay! :)
