We just came back from visiting this hotel for 5 nights and 6 days (6/25-30). This hotel and the entire property of hotels was absolutely beautiful. We went on a family vacation and I took my 3 teenagers with my husband and myself. The food was very good, and the specialty restaurants were outstanding...although the French restaurant's service was a bit slow. The Caribe restaurant was our favorite. We visited the other Barcelo hotels and I would also recommend the Barcelo Colonial and the seafood restaurant there. The Colonial hotel was laid out great, a little "warmer" and had a marketplace/shops and a disco, so a bit more to do. The staff was outstanding at the Barcelo Maya Palace. The hotel was very open, very modern and beautiful. I loved the art work. There were activities all day by the pool. There was always someone ready to take your drink order. Will definitely go back again.
The best!

This was our second time at the Palace and it is so beautiful. My wife and I love it. You want for nothing and the staff is so friendly and helpful. I would recommend this hotel to any one and we are going back next year. Be sure to bring your own snorkel gear, there is a reef right off of the beach to this hotel.
Great Vacation!

We stayed here in January of 09 with another couple. The hotel was beautiful, Clean, and accessable. Staff was Kind, Not big on english but we were able to communicate ok. I would read up on how to make the drinks you like. Beach is fantastic. We found the beach farther away from the palace (by the barcelo beach or tropical) was less rocky but it made for a nice walk to get there. (they do have a shuttle running all day to)The food was great. Our bigest Issue if any was making reservations. We were unable to get into the hibatchi grill because it was booked the whole week we were there but every time we walked passed it was barely full. I would reccomend Knowing where you want to eat before you get there. And dont forget the sunblock!!!!!
Great relaxing vacation

We vacationed at the Barcelo Maya Palace during March 2009. Upon arriving at the hotel check-in was easy and a welcoming drink was provided. The room decor was very nice, service was excellent, and the adult pool was very relaxing with a fantastic bartender. We had a good experience at the Rodizio (Brazilian) and Caribe (Carribean). The buffets were very good, especially omelets for breakfast. The snorkeling was fantastic. The only negative was having to leave!!!
