Best Things Nearby:
Puerto Vallarta is only 20 min. by cab. There you will find shopping, boat tours, horseback riding in the forest or on the beach, and plenty of restaurants and bars.
Best Things About the Resort:
Self-contained with several restaurants, activities for adults and children, beautiful pool, beach, spa and gym, walking trails, golf course, and a mini-mart.
Resort Experience:
The resort is continuing to add new rooms and restaurants so there is construction in progress. This should not detract from the beauty of the resort as it is on the perimeter of the property; however, you should always make sure your children stay clear of any construction sites, as the Mexican rules and regulations relating to safety are not similar to those in the U.S. The staff was excellent and the property is beautiful. There is a building of rooms that faces the front parking lot. This is where we were originally assigned -- if you get this area, ask the front desk to move you to the building closest to the pool and beach. If there's anything available, you will get it -- be persistent and go down to the reception desk in person, nothing will be done by a phone request.
The mosquitos are vicious at night, so be sure to apply lime juice (yes, you read that correctly) to any exposed skin -- it truly works and was taught to me by our guide during a horseback tour through the Puerto Vallarta forest.
I wouldn't recommend this resort if you're looking for nightlife or Mexican culture. It's a perfect place for families and couples who would like to be left alone.
The food was decent, not spectacular, and overall, the prices were reasonable.
