Best Things Nearby:
Local seafood places and outside the town

Best Things About the Resort:
We loved the man-made lake and the restaurant, and the pools were amazing. The staff was very friendly.

Resort Experience:
We had a great view of the golf course and the beach. The accommodations were great, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. There were some fruit stands on the way into the town where we were able to get pineapples, mangos, and other great fruits at an incredible price, like a whole crate of mangos for about $5. In town, we were able to get some great prices on T-shirts and other gifts.

Best Things About the Resort:
Pool was great. The grounds that are finished are beautiful.

Resort Experience:
We were tricked into taking an "upgrade", which included a misrepresented time share presentation as well as a move to an entirely different hotel, from the Mayan Palace to the Grand Mayan. It turns out the place we had booked through RCI the Mayan Palace was oversold. Both rooms we were in had serious maintenance problems that they seemed unable to resolve. For example, one with no hot water and the other with a shower that would not drain. Had very bad cleaning service, with turndown two of the seven nights and never enough towels. Staff was very unresponsive, and one blamed the other for the problems while nothing got taken care of. It has a beautiful pool, and some of the grounds are spectacular. There is still a lot of construction, and our first room provided a view of construction equipment and a large flock of workers, many of whom had no access to indoor plumbing. We were horrified when we awoke our first day and saw this. We would have preferred the Mayan Palace, where most restaurants, as well as activities, were located. The amount of walking that moving us caused for my 80-year-old mother was unreasonable.

Until the many issues at the Grand Mayan are dealt with, I would not recommend staying there. You might try the Mayan Palace. People seemed happier there, even if the rooms are a little smaller.

All activities are within an hour of the resort.

Best Things About the Resort:
The beach

Resort Experience:
The resort layout spreads the guests over a large area, giving everyone room to relax. I could not tell the resort was sold out for the week.

In the rooms, the walls are a little thin, and noise from neighboring rooms was loud during the night. Pillows were lumpy and beds were short, but it was not a trip spoiler.

There are beautiful private beaches and tours that even let you swim with dolphins.

Best Things About the Resort:
The activities, entertainment, and golf were the best things.

Resort Experience:
The pools are probably the most amazing things I have ever seen. They have a pool that is like 2km around. The wave pools and lazy rivers have all kinds of activities.

The staff, from the maid service to the gardeners to the timeshare salesmen, is friendly and helpful.

From journal Mayan Palace - Best Timeshare Program

Mayan Palace Nuevo Vallarta

Best Things Nearby:
The resort is so beautiful. We mostly stayed near the pool.

Best Things About the Resort:
The resort is gorgeous, but beware the timeshare presentations. It is illegal to ask you to waive your right to rescind. You can also cancel a credit card purchase in Mexico within 10 days.

Resort Experience:
We were upgraded to the Grand Mayan. It is spectacular, and the two-bedroom was huge. However, the timeshare people lie and deceive you. Please be careful.
