Everything was wonderful from the check-in to housekeeping, servers, bar tenders...I can not say enough good things! We upgraded to the M-experience. Our room was very nice and housekeeping kept everything very clean and restocked. We did not have to ask for anything because it was already there! One day we came in and there were rose petals everywhere! Champaigne was on ice and there were riibbons and roses in the room and bathroom. It was so nice and romantic! There was also a nice note wishing us a happy 25th anniversary. It was a wonderful place with an amazing staff!

Had a great week in Puerto Vallarta with the Family. We stayed in the Malia Puerto Vallarta hotel. Very nice place for the location, great staff and grounds. Dining on site was good, as were restaurants in PVR. The hotel goes out of its way to provide good service and entertainment can't miss the Koei pond and the big iguanas. However, watch out for the pool...it so needs to be clean more often, mater of fact I never saw the pool get sweeped/vacuumed the whole time I was there and there was no indication. Based on the material on the bottom, that it had been done. Over all nice place and will stay there again if I go back to PVR but I hope the hotel steps up and works on the pool a bit more often.

My boyfriend and I took our first romantic vacation and chose the Melia because of its price and generally positive reviews, but I don't think anybody has truly expressed how wonderful this hotel was.
The staff was absolutely amazing, from the management to the maids. The waiters gave me the best service I have had of any restaurant, be it in the US or elsewhere. The rest of the staff was amazingly helpful and many spoke very good English. There was not a single person I couldn't communicate with.
The activities staff of the hotel made sure to include everybody or as many people as possible by clearly announcing their activities and wandering the hotel grounds for anybody who may want to participate. The activities themselves were varied enough that any traveler could find something to do from water aerobics to archery and pottery painting to beach volley ball. We even traveled during the rainy season and the activities staff made sure to entertain guests despite the sometimes horrendous weather.
The hotel itself was always pristine, with an amazing attention to detail, such as folding towels into animals. During the rain, when much of the marble flooring became slippery, maintainance crews patrolled the grounds constantly cleaning up trouble spots and warning guests of excessive water.
Many previous reviews complained of uncomfortable/hard beds - we did not have a problem with this. The hotel does use firm orthopedic matresses but they also will place a foam topper on the mattress upon request (furthermore, any room requests were carried out immediately and by friendly staff)
I have stayed in some of the best hotels in the world and the Melia ranks right up there with them. I wouldn't have had a problem paying 2 times as much for the same vacation.

I have a 15-year-old son and an 18-month-old baby. It is hard to plan vacations that we all will enjoy. I was hesitant to go to Mexico one more time. However, I was impressed with the services that this hotel provided. The day care in location offered free professional care for my daughter, which allowed us to do some swimming and sports with my son and also have a romantic dinner without the kids. My daughter met some kids her age and spent a wonderful time at the beach and pool playing with them. It was easy to find activities that we all wanted to do at the resort. We had the M-floor and was very happy with it. We had oceanfront, so when my dd was napping we were enjoying drinks on the balcony. not bad at all. On the low side we bought the shuttle service from and at the return they were trying to send the whole family, suitcases and stroller on a public taxi (not what I thought I paid for). After some arguments we got two taxis. Good thing is that I speak Spanish and sort it out. Taxis try to always get more for their runs, so be careful find out how much you should pay before boarding one. Also be careful with the time-share salespeople that greet you at the airport.
Amazing Trip!

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the Melia. The staff were extremely friendly and courteous from the moment we arrived at the hotel to when we got in the taxi to go back to the airport. The room we stayed in was beautiful and very comfortable and included a balcony. There are a few restaurants to choose from and the food is delicious. The menu changes everyday, including choices of Mexican, French, Seafood, and Italian. The lobby bar closes at 1:00am so you don't have to stop partying too early. The pool and beach areas are beautiful and relaxing.
The hotel does have a timeshare program and offers it to you with a 90 minute presentation. I am not a fan of these but it was actually an enjoyable experience. It is definitely NOT a high-pressure sell. The presentation includes breakfast or lunch with the representative and then a tour of the hotel.
I definitely recommend this hotel to anyone looking to stay in the Puerto Vallarta area.
