Great fun and super happy kids!

Expensive but mostly because of Delta's monopoly on flights to Nas! Well worth the $ for the actual room and amenities. Food can be pricey yet the dining plan helps and offers good food for adults and kids (ours were 6, 4, &1). This was our second trip and we'll definitely be going back. We worry now though that the Gulf coast will just be too boring for our kids! The water park is just wonderful and the beaches are the best in the world (sorry Hawaii). We've stayed at the Coral Towers both times and had enough room and felt they were clean and in the perfect location (in the middle) for everything.

Fabulous Water Activities

This resort is probably the best in the Caribbean for variety of water activities and breath-taking setting. Daily newsletter. We even enjoyed learning about building the Atlantis--architectural design & aquarium that was broadcast repeatedly on the Atlantis hotel tv. The highlight of our trip was the sea lion interaction; for which we were the only 2 people in that particular session, and the dolphin experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our dolphin foot push. An improvement to this dolphin program would be to use the orientation time prior to the dolphin experience to actually orient participants to what they will experience, instead of showing a film about dolphins in a elementary school-tone, Q & A format. I actually like knowing what the game plan is before I do something, rather than just be unwittingly led from one area of the pool to another. There wasn't enough time to practice with the water scooter and we were not informed of our route. I spent most of those few minutes during that portion of the experience trying not to bump into the dolphin or be bumped into by another participant. The overall experience was exhilerating, though. The staff were unfailingly friendly and polite. Our reservations clerk went out of her way to please us. Our request to be placed in a room away from crowds resulted in one of the best ocean views of Coral Towers. One significant negative is the high restaurant prices, against which I did a quick cost comparison and purchased the more favorable Casual Meal Plan. Of the 20+ total restaurants, about eight were listed on the Casual Meal Plan for dinner. On the Sat-Monday we were there, however, only 1 or 2 of the restaurants were open. Overall, a fabulous vacation at Atlantis!

Weekend Getaway

My husband and I went to Atlantis on a whim at the last minute due to a canceled trip to Los Cabos because of swine flu outbreaks. We were there for two nights and we were overall very pleased with the resort. The view from the room was beautiful. We were moved to the Coral Towers from the Beach Towers which we had originally booked due to no King beds being available. We were happy with the move and the service was honestly outstanding. I was really surprised how friendly everyone was, we have been to the Bahamas several times and there has definitely been a change in attitude there. If you have children you should not stay anywhere else. There is so much for them to do and most of it is included with your room stay. Food is outrageous but you can expect that when staying at a resort. There are some reasonable beach bars that have sandwiches and salads if you want to keep the costs down a bit. Casino was a bit smoky, and not very lucky but if you like gambling it is very convenient. Unlike other areas and islands you will feel very safe as everything is very new, upscale, and well kept. It is a really nice resort and a beautiful place to visit just go knowing it will be pricey.

Atlantis Hotel Rating

My husband and I just returned from Paradise Island where we stayed at the Coral Towers of Atlantis. The hotel and grounds were beautiful and never ending - so much land and so many pools and lagoons, aquariums, beaches, etc. I have to say, unfortunately, we were upset about quite a few things. Firstly, the staff was not very friendly and hospitable. This was particularly surprising given the fact that you spend so much $$ here and the tourists drive their business there. Every time we passed the lobby, we were harassed by staff trying to sell you a timeshare at the Reef and Harbourside. Secondly, the Lazy River Ride, which is what I really looked forward to going on and the only ride I could go on being pregnant, was closed for renovation, which the staff did not inform us - actually quite the opposite - the staff advised me to only do that. Thirdly, the Water's Edge Buffet Restaurant, the lesser expensive of the 2 buffets in the hotel, was also closed for renovation - again, not informed of this. Lastly, the prices of food/drinks were astronomical - $4 for a soda, $5 for an O.J., $10 for a smoothie, $10 for a basic garden salad - the list goes on. These prices were not only for the restaurants in the hotel and the huts around the pools but also for the restaurants in the Marina Village, which is also apart of the hotel. We couldn't go anywhere and pay less - unless we spent $22 roundtrip to take a taxi to Nassau downtown - and who knows the prices there - w/the taxi fee, you're probably spending the same amt or so. So, in summary, beautiful island and resort, but did not live up to my expectations.

Atlantis resost - Nassau, Bahamas

This was one of the worst choices of destination we ever made. The place was nice, and the ocean was beautiful, but the Atlantis staff were so incredibly rude. The people that work there are incredibly pushy, discourteous, and have absolutely no idea about customer service. Our check-in was a 2-hour nightmare, and when we got to our room, there were dirty towels there. It took us 2 hours to get clean towels. The resort puts a manditory 15% gratuity on everything, so the service people have absolutely no reason to be nice to you, so they ARE NOT! At the main outside (outdoor) restaraunt, they actually tried to take the cushions out from under our chairs, because our bathings suites had soaked through our clothes! So for $3*/night, and a * lunch (with no alcohol) we couldn't even sit on a cushioned chair...they wanted us to sit on the rod iron! The food there is decent, but very overpriced. There was very little to do at the resort, we basically got through everything in 2 days....but we were there a week, so we ended up going over the bridge to Nassau as much as we could. Anything to get away from the Atlantis staff! Everything in Nassau was old, but at least the food was cheaper. There was a market which was pretty fun for me, but it was outdoor and conjested, and the vendors were begging you to buy, so my wife was uncomfortable. For what we spent at Atlantis, to be treated as badly as we were, we will never go back. We told this to the flight attendant on the ride home, and she said that 90% percent of people who stay at the the Atlantis, say they will never go back! Neither will we!
