What's Not to Like About This Place

Oct 08 - We enjoyed the Canto very muchy, what is not to like about the place. The staff were most accommodating. Any item requiring attention was met with not only speed, but very pleasantly. The morning buffet was the most enjoyable, with eggs prepaired to order. The waiters brought morning eye opener drinks well before the bar opening around the pool, or lobby bar. The snack bar at the pool had a great assortment of well prepaired snacks, and the best salsa ever... The pool bar made the best Bloody Mary's, and cold beer. After reading prior reviews I was afraid that the pool noise would be too much, however, our room was just off the pool, and when the sun went down, so did the noise at the pool. Came here with relatives, they also had a really nice time. Avoid the Longosto Feliz (Happy Lobster) down town, it was TERRIBLE..... The lobster was mushy, and was the worst I have ever eaten.

Better than expected

Honeymooners with a tight budget - chose one of the lower priced packages and were very impressed. Our only complaint was the distance from the actual city. Not bad on a busride, but very long to walk. Safe and comfortable establishment. We didn't eat there as we decided to experiment with the local restaurants (highly recommend this option) and all of our activities we did on our own - booked through online travel website. The hotel was quiet, well staffed, and we enjoyed every minute of it. It's Mexico, so don't expect to have the American amneties and service. You're on their turf. "When in Rome..." They did make us wear a stupid arm band - I didn't agree with that at all. We did emjoy the pool but spent most of the time on the beach with was right across the parking lot. The bus into town picks up and drops off right off the main street, maybe 1/8 of a mile from the hotel and there's an internet cafe (a/c'd) where you can wait. We'd definetly stay there again for the money, but might look for something closer to the town.

Worst Hotel Stay Ever

First of all got to the hotel after confirming reservation the day before and they sold my room, then they had me in the lobby with my kids for 3 hours until I asked for my money back-then they put me across the way in a not so nice room with 3 bedrooms instead of 2 rooms, The food was bad by the pool, sewage was coming up from the pipes next to the outdoor restaurant. The nstaff was very rude and the pool was yellow on the kids side of the pool. I would never recommend this establishment to my worst enemy. This was my kids first time to Mexico in July of 2006. We had the all inclusive, but the food was below standards and ended up spending more money in Town at restaurants.

We thought long and hard before going to the VV... other travel sites have some mixed reviews. We had no problems.

The rooms were large, clean, and after a small mix-up on arrival, we got a good room overlooking the bay. The staff are attentive, the food is just adequate, but the three 'a la carte' restaurants more than make up for that. Make sure you ask for the special coffee... wonderful!

The adult pool is great: no kids, and it has its own bar.

One word of warning: the resort fills with locals at the weekend, so if you're thinking of a few days away (we went up to Guadlajara - via Tequila), that's a good time to do it.

We added three nights to our vacation in Puerto Vallarta by staying here before we checked into the Club Regina. We found it online and we were not expecting much for the price.

The four of us shared a two-bedroom suite complete with living room and partial kitchen for less than US$100 per night. The hotel common areas are immaculate and the decor is nice and very Mexican. The rooms are clean, but somewhat worn out, which we expected.

There is a small pool at the hotel and you are given access to the Costa del Sol across the plaza, but we really enjoyed our little pool. Most of the users were Mexican families and we really enjoyed their company and the great music at the pool. There were lots of amenities, including restaurants, mini markets, retail, and even a Golds Gym at the hotel.

We did not stay all-inclusive (we never do), so we cannot comment on the food and drinks. The hotel is right in town in a busy area and we enjoyed watching the daily hubbub from our decks. We would stay there again, but probably won't as we are always trying something different.

From journal We keep going back to PV. . .
