Thin, thin walls

The hotel was beautiful and well located, but the walls were so thin that we could hear "personal" noises and full conversations even with our TV on. The staff was quite nice but couldn't tell me where to find a NY Times even though there was a newspaper shop a block away. When we returned from getting the paper, we found a NY Times delivered to all the rooms on our floor. We paid extra for a ocean view room and found it could only be seen from half the room.

Go to the hotel website and you will find the prices cheaper. On this site the same room was advertised at $* and on the hotel's $*

As beach resorts go this one is in the BEST LOCATION. 4 star hotel it is not. No service for breakfast. Rooms way to expensive ours looked out onto pool but had cigarette stained carpet. Also, There was a very loud party drinking by the pool at 2:40 a.m. that woke all of us up. A great location but the hotel is in desperate need of painting and carpet and nicer pillows. If you go try to call if you can get someone on the phone and negotiate a better price around $* would be fairer and don't waste time on the breakfast buffet. They charged us an additional $40 for hot food ridiculous Manhattan type prices but without Manhattan style service.

First I was annoyed by a manditory $12/day "resort fee". If it's a manditory fee, it should be in the room price.Night 1, maid left the door open!Night 2, maid didn't even show up!Probably fine in season, but 3rd rate staff in winter.

We stayed at Ocean Place with our 2 teenage daughters because we wanted it ALL! We wanted to visit NYC and have an ocean front hotel with a beach for relaxing as well. We visited NYC by speed ferry, which was great...no driving hassles or parking worries. We drove the coast and saw light houses, nature perserves, and Board Walks. We even drove into Jersey City (fairly easy drive) to take the ferry to visit Lady Liberty. I would highly recommend this resort. They aren't perfect, but they know how to take care of their guests! We wouldn't hesitate to stay there again.
