The locationm is great, near everything in Asheville. The beds were heavenly, the rooms were large and the grounds were beautiful. It could have used a fan in the bathroom but other than that it was great.

Weekend Getaway

My wife and I went to Asheville for a weekend getaway to the Biltmore as well as the downtown Asheville shopping, restaurants and nightlife. We had a wonderful trip, but were relatively disappointed with the Crowne Plaza resort. Overall the hotel was OK and I would stay again, but the problem is that I have stayed at other CP's across the country and this definitely didn't meet up to the Crowne Plaza standard (unless the Crowne Plaza standard is declining). The golf course was in terrible shape in that neither my wife or I played golf, as the course was in despicible condition. the restaurant was way overpriced and the food was terrible. If you are looking for a nice bed with few amenities this place is for you, but if you are looking for a resort, spend a little more money and go elsewhere. Also, no concierge for the entire 3 days we were there and the business center is atrocious.

Not for Business Travelers

I was hoping to find something a little nicer in the Holiday Inn lineup for my business trips to Asheville. I thought Crowne Plaza hotels were supposed to be better than this. The location although close to Asheville, very difficult to get in and out of because of its proximity to the freeway. You can tell the hotel was converted from another chain, but it was done poorly and is now outdated. WIth the exception of the bed, the room was blah. The bathroom was small, there was a large stain on the carpet, and there was no hot water at 7am! The front desk staff was not very professional. If you're a family with kids or stay mainly for the golf, this is probably fine for you. But don't stay if you are a business traveler.

If you enjoy golf, this is the place to be! Room was clean and comfortable, the bathroom was a bit small and cramped. Staff helpful. Check-in is at this hotel is 4 PM, not 3 PM.

The staff people at the check in desk at the above hotel were the most inattentive people I have ever encountered in my travels. This attitude continued throughout our stay. We actually felt they could not be bothered with the guests and were just passing time until they went off duty. Also, although the rooms were clean and large, the noise from the highway nearby was not a good thing . I would not stay at another Crown Plaza property.
