We stayed in the Carolina Inn which is the main building. It is a classic wood building with an inviting lobby. For a large resort, they manage to keep the ambiance comfortable.
You can also stay in two smaller inns or in the condominiums. Families like the condominiums, otherwise stay in one of the inns.
The rooms in the Carolina Inn have all been renovated. They are good sized and it doesn''t make a difference whether you are looking out the front or the back.
Everyone staying at the resort is on some sort of meal plan, generally a MAP which includes breakfast and dinner. No getting around this and frankly, the best places to eat are at the resort.
This is a resort geared to daytime outdoor activity. A lot of people dine late and get up early. So it should be no surprise to discover that there isn''t a lot of nightlife to be found on the property. You tend to socialize with those that you came with.
I have been to this resort since the early 1980s. It has gotten better and better. It also has gotten pricier. For an east coast golf oriented destination, this plus The Homestead are two great choices.
