My family had had a very stressful few weeks and my husband and I decided to get away for the weekend from Annapolis. I booked this hotel because our women's retreat from my church was held here last year. It was very clean - great oceanview room - roomy accomodations. Staff was very friendly. Last year I left my tennis shoes under the bed and they mailed them to me - (I finally paid the bill for it Saturday :-( ) Anyhow - I would recommend this HOliday Inn to anyone !!!

I was suprised by how old and dingy the rooms were. The pool area is completely surrounded by gates and poorly set up. It is overcrowed, dirty and a total maze to sunseekers. I would not stay here again. The complicated maze makes the pool and sundeck feel like a prison. I was very disapponited.

I had points so they stuck me in this lower end Holiday Inn in OC. My most perturbing moment was when I tried to take a nap after the drive. The bed stunk like a football team. I dumped a travel bottle of baby powder on the mattress. I asked for new bed linens and Febreeze. They had some other disinfectant spray, which kind of worked. After a few hours I was able not to gag from the lingering odor. As a note, I have stayed at W Hotels and the Westin. Obviously this doesn't compare. I have lived in hotels for work as well. This was the worst bed - ever. The kitchen was ok. I brought all my own food, so I can't comment about the hotel food. There is plenty to eat nearby. The staff was nice and did their best to address any issues.
Convenience is key. I was on the ocean and had a southern view of the water. I could hear the waves once the human rucus died down. I did have a blast running a few 10ks on the beach at the crack of dawn when the sand was nice and compacted. I did long yoga sessions in the mornings when the beach was not too crowded. I also drove to Assateague for a day. Its about an hour's drive, I think. You can also drive north for 30 minutes and hit the Fenwick Island beach in Delaware . Both are State parks, so there are no hotels, or party crowds.
Nice Hotel Overall

Great location, friendly staff & one of the cleaner places I've stayed in at OC. The only problem we had was a clogged toilet, but after alerting the people at the front desk, the maintenance guy was there within 10 minutes to remedy the problem. The pools, hot tubs, tennis courts and shuffleboard were well maintained and a definite plus. I only wish the outdoor Grille Restaruant would have been open later and some outdoor entertainment at night by the pool would have been nice. Also, after our experience in other hotels in previous years, 4 working elevators was a real treat!
