Description: My brother-in-law and sister-in-law wanted an anniversary treat while at the beach, so they booked a night in a king executive suite at the Sheraton. A step below the Ritz, this is still a high-end hotel with an ocean view. In fact, they could watch the waves through their glass door from the comfy king-sized bed without ever going out on the patio!
So how was the room appointed? With linen-textured wall paper, marble countertops in the small bathroom, a light-accented headboard, cherry armoire, and couch. The room was spacious and nicely decorated. The sand-colored berber carpet had a strange grid of blue lines running through it that was obviously meant to match the color of the walls. However, comically, this looked more like an engineer's floor plan than a tasteful pattern! With that said, the room was very comfortable and nice.
Extras: With two swimming pools and the beach, this is a swimmer's paradise that would suit kids, as well as adults. A nice restaurant is on-site, and some room rates can garner guests a $10-off coupon for the extensive breakfast buffet. Room service was quick and exceptionally attentive. While the room service menu was limited, my in-laws requested a full menu from the restaurant, and were served fresh fruit and fried cheesecake. The delicious chicken quesadillas were sliced as large as pieces of pizza. The chicken pot pie got mixed reviews.
Negatives? The hotel has limited security. There's a charge for Internet use. Dogs were seen on the elevators, though I don't know if pet rooms are separated from the others. There was no evidence that pets had ever stayed in my in-laws' room.
Bottom line? This is a nice hotel.
