first and foremost, the hotel was not located where the map showed it to be. this caused problems with the taxi driver as i thought he was trying to overcharge me. it was supposed to be about 2 blocks from the marina where the cruise ships dock and the mexican immigration office where i needed to go the next morning. i wouldnt' have stayed there if i had known where it was -miles from where i needed to be the next day. also the impression given by the ads etc was that it was on the beach side of the big highway that runs from the airport to puerto vallarta downtown. it was not. it was a scant quarter block on the east side (not beach side)of this highway, with the highway in plain view. someone mentioned that it was across the road from the beach. hardly. there are businesses and who knows what on the other side of this incredibly noisy and busy highway. beach access wasn't easily discernible. there was a tiny restuarant but it wasn't open either for dinner or breakfast. i walked down the street about a block and found a much nicer place with a nice large breakfast buffett and large pool. the price there for one person was 150 pesos per night. i paid * at vallarta sol and they claimed my credit card wouldn't work, though it worked every other place i used it. their pool was refreshing but the room was stifling even with the meager ceiling fan and it was so noisy from the street that the windows had to be closed tight which made it even hotter. all in all i wouldn't recomment staying there again.
