Absolutely the Worst Trip of My Life!

Absoltely Horrid place!
Everything was wrong from the moment of the arrival. The "welcome room" was highly over-eggagerated. We were treated like cattle, placed on a filthy bus and subjected to one of the most frightening rides ever. The welcome from the staff was cool and they seemed bothered by our arrival. No instruction was ever given about anything...the activities were scheduled but never came to fruition. We'd show up and none of the staff would be there.
The room was dirt, the beds full of fleas nightly, the jacuzzi filter had a hairball the size of my palm, the hand shower was broken, the balcony door was broken....
The food was "okay" but not "Five star" at all. There were ALWAYS flies and gnats on the food and everyone responded to minor requests at a snails pace.
I cannot stress enough....unless you want to drink from sun up to sundown, or enjoy sun sports...this is NOT the place to go. It is a HUGE amount of money that does not deliver on its promises.

Fantastic Resort

My husband and I just returned from the Grand Lido Negril and absolutely loved it. There was plenty of good food and fun times to be had. Whether you are there for food, drink, or watersports the Grand Lido has it all in abundance. The breakfast buffet was unbelievable and you have to try the lamb chops at the timber house, the hamburgers were not so good but there was plenty of other food to choose from. The resort was built in 1989 and is starting to show signs of age but there is a "soft makeover" planned for when it becomes a Breezes this fall. Not the most comfortable beds or pillows, hopefully these will be replaced in the makeover. The staff was very friendly and attentive and took care of our every need. The only thing lacking was poolside service but the restaurant/bar was only steps away so not a deal breaker. I would not hesitate to go back.

My wife and I have just returned and I must admit it was a great place. This was our first time to go to Jamaica but it will not be our last. We really liked the personnel of the hotel, and the service was always with a smile. Very Very impressive. To the Staff of the Grand Lido, we say thank you and hope to see you again soon.

Not worth the money

First of all, their web site is very misleading. The yacht has been gone for at least 4 years but still appears on the website. The "state of the art" welcome lounge at the airport is just a lime green room with a few small sofas in it where they offer you room tempature bottled water while you wait for your transfer to the hotel. There were no daily activities the entire week we were there. They appeared on the daily schedule but never happened. Everytime we inquired when an activity was going to begin we were told that the Activities Director was not there. Cigarette butts littered the beach, you had better get your towel early because they run out and it takes a long time for them to get restocked. They would run out of things in the resturants and on the buffet. Things like hamburger buns and English muffins. My hamburger was served on regular bread--which I hate at home, much less at a "5 star" resort. They ran out of potato skins, but had potatoes for hash browns, which was weird. They ran out of pizza one night. We had our anniversary dinner in the french resturant. The food was excellent. They brought us a cake for dessert which we asked to have sent to our room--it showed up 4 days later! Overall I thought the food was good--when they weren't out of it--but the service was slow and the resort diffinately was NOT worth the money we spent. They need to update their website as it greatly overexagerates the quality of the place. I would not recommend Grand Lido.

Not bad, but not great

The entire place seems old, but the staff was friendly and helpful. The food was pretty good, but not great. Not sure that it's a great value for the money, and it was a long trip from the airport.
