This Howard Johnson isn't like most HoJos you may have experienced. This one is different--it's in one of downtown Monterey's grand old hotels and in what, I feel, is the BEST location in town--smack dab on the Macroplaza.
Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable, with a/c, coffeemaker, cable TV, luxurious marble bathrooms, and more. The hotel also offers free parking in their cramped garage.
One of the best features of this hotel is its outstanding breakfast buffet. Start off with a strong pot of Mexican coffee, take your choice of delicious breads from the breakfast bar, or just dig into the plentiful buffet packed with lots of tasty Mexican dishes plus gringo favorites like French toast and scrambled eggs. This buffet is a real winner, especially considering that the hotel charges half the rate of the neighboring Radisson and Fiesta Americana.
There are some rough edges here and not everything is as refined as it is at the high-dollar places. That said, it's still the best hotel deal in Monterrey. Trust me on this!
