The hotel itself shows a little of its age, and the rooms did have a musty smell (probably because of the age of the hotel and the tropical air) but as a whole the place was wonderful! The staff could not have been more helpful and/or accomodating! The food at the buffet was good...but the Venezia Restaurant and the Mexican Restaurant (both reservations required) were both excellent with impeccable service. The hotel was small which added to ambience of the place, the pools were great and I must say it one more time! The service and the staff were absolutely wonderful!

Our stay at Samba Vallarta was perfect in every way! We have stayed there twice in the last six months--the first trip was five of us to plan my daughter's wedding, and the second was this past week for the wedding itself. There were 18 of us and we all stayed at the Samba. It was great!--small enough that we could always find one another, intimate yet elegant. The staff at the Samba were wonderful--the bellman even remembered us from our previous trip! They are friendly and helpful, and made us feel very welcome. The pools are great--particularly for kids; the ocean and beach terrific; the rooms clean and spacious--wait until you see the towel animals the housekeeping staff leave; and the food was good with lots of variety. We spent long hours in the restaurant just visiting and enjoying the food, atmosphere and each other. It is relaxing and casual yet with a feeling of luxury. All rooms are close to everything--the restaurants, bars, pool area, and beach. We all hope to return again and again!

Amazing. That's the word that sums up our trip to Samba. The employees make it a point to get to know your name. The hotel is very clean, you will see painters, housekeepers, and gardening staff even at 7 am in the morning. The grounds are beautiful. There is enough room in the massive pool for everyone. I traveled with my family which includes 2 grown children ages 21 and 19. The all inclusive was a plus for us, and we had the suite which faced the ocean and had 2 patios. Both of my children had a blast as did my wife and I. The food at the buffett was OK, but we are not "food critics" so we appreciate down home food. At lunch there were cheeseburgers by the pool everyday from 12 to 6Pm. So if you were ever hungry it was your own fault. We booked our reservations for the 2 special resturants the day we got to Samba and had no problem at all. The tips are included but for a dollar or 2 the waiters kept the cervas coming all day long. How could anyone not have a GREAT TIME HERE AT SAMBA?
My only critic of the entire stay is the mosquitos were fierce and it would be nice if Samba added an ice cream machine. So, don't be afraid to go to a great place with bang for your buck!

I was not impressed at all, the food was not very good. We stayed at the Samba 4 nights and could not get a reservation to either of the restaurants because all of the reservations were already taken for all 4 nights. We ate the buffett meals every day and they were not what we expected. I think the only night that was not so bad was the seafood night. Lunch was ok, because we could have hamburgers and hot dogs. Also, the drink cups that they give you with each drink is very small.
Besides that, we had one daughter that did not travel with us. I called her from the hotel every day. Sometimes, I could not get a hold of her. Upon check out, I received my phone bill and they had charged me for every minute I had let the phone ring even though there was no answer. I told them I did not want to pay for the charges where there was no answer. They said that since I made the calls I was liable. I spoke to a manager and he only took off 1 of the charges for *pesos. I did not want to argue even though I knew that this was wrong, so I just paid the bill. That was horrible customer service. That would never have been OK in the US.
We had a great time!!!

The Samba was a great place to get away. The pool and the beach were beautiful, and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommend the Mexicano speciality restaurant--the food was great. We would go again.
