Family Vacation July 2008

The Samba Vallarta fit our families needs well. There could have been one or two more restaurant choices for breakfast and lunch. The activities at the pool were outstanding with tons of variety. The evening shows were a great way to finish off the evening. The biggest complaint we all had was how hard the beds were. The food was good and the staff very friendly. It was always easy to get a taxi or a city bus. We hope for a future return trip that the area will be more developed with shopping and restaurants near by. Oh and tell the city to fix the big pot holes in the roads coming into the hotel community.

Very friendly

We had a great time in this hotel there is always something to do. Activities during the day a theater in the evening. There are many attractions and activities around PV which are worth it to do. Food was good, stuff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. Room was ok. The only thing was that the air condition had a little bad smell and the room was quite dump. But we had a great time and would come back.

We stayed at samba for 7 days. Our room was on first floor with bacony. Our room was broke into. The doors on the bacony could by opened from outside when locked in under 30 seconds. No safe in room. Lots of little stuff kept going missing. Our stuff was went through. We wrote a report, but it was a waste of paper. They treated us like we was the ones that stole something. The few activites they had was very unorganized and done mostly in spanish, which we don't speak spanish. We say beware!!!! The food could be eaten but was not very good. Same food type for almost every meal. Staff that worked the bar and the waiters were very nice and helpful but spoke very little english.

A great place for a low-key family vacation!

Our family came, based on the recommendation of my brother. He told us the staff remembered him by name every year. This is a great place if you're looking for a fun, friendly place. Not a fancy place! If you're looking for fancy, just stroll up the beach. The Samba offered us close access to the pristine pool, sandy beach, food and drink any time of day or night (all inclusive). The rooms were nice. The service was the best thing about this place. Some activities we did were kayaking, water exercise classes, parasailing, shopping in an old village (1 mile down the beach), nightly shows, etc. The Samba is a 15 minute drive from downtown Puerto Vallarta. We plan to go back over and over again. We didn't notice any musty smell (as one reviewer claimed). The food is casual (fruit, cereals, burgers, burritos, etc). This is one heck of a bargain for a family vacation.

We Loved The Samba!

We like all-inclusive resorts because we want a minimum-effort vacation at a great price, and that's exactly what we got at the Samba. We don't require fancy food or Hilton-type lodgings, either, so we were very happy: A decent room, wonderful staff (and remember - you catch more flies with honey than a flyswatter), decent food, a beautiful pool, great Kids Club staff, and it's on the best strip of beach in the entire area. First, if you've never been to Mexico or Central America, it's important to note that all buildings there are made of concrete. Very little wood is used. (We also stayed at the Presidente Intercontinental, a VERY fancy hotel - and much more expensive - and it was all concrete, too - even the bed frame!) So when you enter the Samba, it may feel low-class, despite the polished marble floors everywhere. But know that just about every resort is built the same way. In actuality, the Samba is pretty mid-scale. The decor is very typical Mexican - lots of earth tones. Due to the humidity of the area, the rooms do smell a bit musty, and the A/C runs about 20 hours per day. That actually helps cover any hallway noise at night. But we spent very little time in our room, anyway! The pool and beach were wonderful. The staff is very nice, especially to the friendly guests. Demanding guests seemed to be less happy with the service. Buy a roll of 5 peso coins for $10 at the desk and give them out liberally. I used a roll a day and got great service. We'll be back!
