Poorly run, bad food, and not attentive

The first day was decent and for the most part the stay was decent. When we got to the room we noticed the bathroom was barely cleaned and looked old and "stingy". Rust was on the drian rims and moldy shower head. We then noticed the remote didnt work and that the balcony deck had bbird feathers and dirt everywhere. The awning that you look out once on the balcony was filled with bird poop and feathers, very disgusting. We went back downstairs to exchange the remote and they insisted on giving us another one that was not the right brand either but the lady was very rude and admiment that it would work. We then also told them about the bathroom and they said everything is cleaned daily yet would switch our room. We went back up adn sure enough the remote didnt work. This time I went down to exchange the remote and exchange currency. We were given the wrong currency, rude services, and bad food the whole stay. If your plan is to just get drunk while you are their, then this hotel may be well suited for you. Otherwise dont bother, not worth the moeny!

True mexico

What I enjoyed the most about this resort was that they were truly Mexican. The staff were native to the region and knew the best restaurants and tourist attractions to recommend (and which to warn about). The music was not the American pop/club music played at the place next door, it was real Mariachi. From the staff (who were very happy to teach us enough Spanish to make it around the city) to the food, to the beautiful (and PEACEFUL) beach, it was the authentic taste of Mexico I was looking for. It is not a teenager-friendly place, most activities were family-oriented. Small children were actively engaged by the childcare staff ALL the time. I do not have children, but was very impressed. We had plenty of quiet adult time even in the midst of dozens of small children. The service was fantastic, it was never too crowded and I did not wait in a line for food even once. We are planning to return next summer.

good time for all

Samba was a small very clean resort. The staff was wonderful. Other reviews didn't do it justices. Yes there was a moldy smell in the rooms- we told them and they let us move 3 times. Then one of the guess told us they bring a small candle or a plug in what a great ideal. Since it was off season there was only 1 dinning area open and it is open air. That was the only thing that really upset me- the food was o.k. The bars could of been stocked a little better, but again it's off season. The resort was only half full- busy up dating before season starts. The staff was awesome. The bar tenders were number one I never had to wait for a drink. We did tip them and other staff only cause we thought they all did a great job. Would I go back. Yes. - we love Mexico and this small resort shows the great side of Mexico. The beaches are some of the best. Longing to go back AZ P.S. the beds were great

Relaxing vacation

We visited Samba in April of 2008 and were pleasantly surprised for the price. The food did get repetative at the buffet, but the reservation only restaurants were good. Unfortunately they were quite difficult to get into, but that was the only bad part of our vacation. The rooms were spacious and comfortable, the beach was kept clean, and the pool was amazing. We wanted a quiet beach vacation without a lot of drunken college students running around, and we found it! We would definitely return.

the staff at sambas were very professional and friendly. they made you feel like family. the hotel itself was very nice, but there was no areas that you could gather that was air conditioned. even the front lobby and bar area were hot as hell. the food was horrible. The gourmet restaurants are far from gourmet. the mexican restaurant is a steak house. just to note they always made sure our drinks were never empty
