If there's one thing this hotel has in abundance, it’s atmosphere! Built in 1892, it was built for royalty, diplomats, and the rich-and-famous who wanted to travel with the Orient Express. From the characteristic porter to the helpful lift attendant, they all look like they could be characters from an Agatha Christie book. Mrs. Christie actually stayed in this hotel, where she wrote "Murder on the Orient Express." Her room is, nowadays, a small museum that can be visited if you ask the hotel desk. Other famous guest also have hotel rooms named after them: Mata Hari, Greta Garbo, Ataturk, Hemmingway, Julio Iglesias, and Josephine Baker.
A visit to the patiserie is highly recommended. It has very tasty pastries and cakes. During the evening, a visit to the Grand Orient Bar is a must.
In here, you can still taste the atmosphere of times long forgotten.
Oh, and even if you are not staying in this hotel, ask for a ride in the antique elevator! It’s a trip back in time.
