Hotel Golden Krone

I'm really debating about recommending or not recommending the Hotel Golden Krone (ie; Golden Crown). E-Mail: goldene-krone@aon.at. While the location was good, adjacent to the Triumphal Arch, & the view from our window inviting, it was our least favorite accommodation of our month long European vacation. Our room was tiny, the bathroom even tinier (about motorhome size). Bedsheets were torn & stained. Water in the shower dripped all night. Airplanes flew directy overhead. There was a lift (elevator), but no air conditioning, & the parking garage was down another street. Breakfast was adequate. The front desk was manned by students who couldn't answer many questions, but did their best. One student, however, proved to be helpful when I needed her to call me a doctor. From the Golden Krone & Triumphal Arch, it was an easy walk to major sites: Hofburg Imperial Court Palace w/ its Imperial Double Eagle Emblem, St. Jacob's Cathedral, Maximillian's Golden Roof, City Tower, row houses, etc. If I returned, I would likely look for alternate accommodations.
