Great If You Get a Deal Aka Corporate Rate

Great If You Get a Deal Aka Corporate Rate

Stayed here in June '08 on corporate rate $100 a night including breakfast buffet. I'll say this, if I was looking for a "five star" hotel in Manila and paying full price, I would not stay here. There are plenty of grandiose places in Makati (Penninsula, Shangri-La) to stay when you want to spend a bunch of money. That said, the service there was great, the breakfast buffet delicious and diverse, and you can't beat the location.

This is a Mandarin in Name Only. The Rooms are Old, DIrty, Noisy. The service is terrible. Not even one seat in the Lobby. If you are expecting Madarin Quality - This is not the Place

Mandarin Oriental

Mandarin Oriental must be one of the most prestigious hotels to stay at with 371 tastefully furnished rooms, 104 club rooms and suites, 4 suites with the highest level of luxury, a spa, health club, and pool.

Dining choices: The Tivoli, Paseo Uno, Tin Hau, Clipper Lounge, Mandarin Deli, Captain's Bar, Kipling's Cigar Bar. Catering for up to 600 guests.

We only visited their lobby, and went to have drinks there just to see the place which was quite upscale and very impressive.

Hotel Mandarin Oriental

Usually considered one of the deluxe hotels in Manila, Mandarin Oriental is located on Makati Avenue. Because the exchange rate is so favorable, you can actually savor great luxury for a reasonable price. Though it is always considered one of the top hotels, I don''t remember the rooms much, except that they were fairly sizable and functional. But the hotel has a great bar, and you can elect to be served by the pool, which is romantically lit in the evening. Not a bad place to spend an evening.

One luxury that you can always enjoy in Asia, but which costs an arm and a leg in the States, is the spa service offered in most luxury hotels. I always go for the massage. For a fairly minimal price compared to here (about $20/hour), you can get a massage in the hotel spa, or even in your room. There is nothing better for an exhausting day of sightseeing or shopping.
