Nice Hotel, noisy thoug

I've been in this hotel several times and I'd always liked it. This time it's under remodeling and you can feel the dust up to your room. Before getting to my final room, I was asigned to 2 rooms, which had no security box, as they claimed, so I asked them for a room with one of them. All that section of the hotel ( the s-w section) had no elevator, so I had do climb up and down the stairs several tims with my luggage. Besides, some of the room windows of that section face the street where there's a Police facility, and the sound of their sirens were on every once in a while, so I had a bad time trying to catch my sleep. In fact I couldn't. This hotel doesn't have a non-smoking rule within their common facilities, such as the lobby. I felt suffocation at 5:00 AM in the morning, while waiting for my taxi because one of their security employees was smoking a lot. That bothered me a lot. One of the advantages of this hotel is that is close to a metro station. Another advantage is that is decently clean. The neighborhood is no longer nice as it used to be several years ago. However, it's possible to get a nicer hotel for less money.

Beautiful colonial building; friendly and helpful staff; large rooms well stocked with necessities (i.e., hair dryer); clean; with a Sanborns store and two Sanborns restaurants on the premises, one of which is housed in a spectacular dining room. Safe taxis out front. The only negative is that the Zona Rosa (the area in which this hotel is located) is no longer as interesting as it was 10-15 years ago. The cute boutiques and artisanias stores have relocated and a plague of night clubs have moved in. However, the location is ideal for those who want to visit both the Centro Historico and Parque Chapultepec, as the hotel is inbetween them. It is also close to a Metro station and Paseo Reforma.
