My husband and I came here for 6 nights and we wanted to leave after one! The food is terrible . Three restaurant need reservations ( which are hard to get). Two of the three have no air conditioning - so if the weather is hot it is unbearable to eat. The resort was nice and well maintained but we will never return. If you care about eating a decent meal while you are on vacation then dont come here!!

I've stayed at the Villa de Palmar several times and have always been satisfied. They have a strict no noise policy after 10pm which is great as you don't have to listen to loud music late at night which most hotels on Medano Beach seem to do. They do work the time share sales pitch with a 40% discount on meals if you bite. I just eat elsewhere as I don't want to spend my time that way and are many choices for meals at restaurants. For the price they are highly recommended!

I was amazed at the beauty of the front desk...its breath-taking. We got to our room and instead of a KING bed, we had to TWIN beds pushed together. Also, we booked an OCEAN view and the only thing we could "view" was a huge tree outside our window on the ground level. I called the online travel agency's number and they resolved the problem for me...the next day we would have to check out at 11am and we wouldnt have our new room until 3pm, which is fine because we got massages, ate lunch, and swam in the pool. The room they upgraded us to was SPECTAUCLAR, but all of the money had been taken out of my luggage while it was sitting up at the front desk...luckily it was only $100. We didnt call the front desk to complain or report the incident because we all know that they couldnt do anything about it. For the record---when the online travel agency says they will make something right, they mean it. They handled our re-booking process swiftly and were very polite.
Food: huge buffets, but they get old pretty quick. Room service offers 5-6 items, but they are good. Making reservations to the restaurants requires waking up at 8am and standing in line. They have 2 times you choose from, and they book fast.
Activities: we parasailed ($80/couple), but we were only up in the air for maybe 10min. Pez Gato snorkeling is fun and costs $45/each.
Rooms: there are small safes in the room, obtain the lock when you check in. If you lose the lock, its $50. The AC will not work if your balcony door open. There is corona, soda and water in the frige. They didn't stock ours for 2 days, so we got

Hotel overall was great. Staff very helpful and attentive, grounds were beautiful. Clean and well kept. Don't drink the water, but remember you are in Mexico-bottled water only. Getting reservations for restaurants is a screwed up process, but not nearly as bad as the reviews I read. Make sure you go to the reservation stand and get a number before you sit down to wait. We were there 10 days and I never waited more than 20-30 minutes any day. Be there on time and have a little patience and you'll be fine. I did see some large groups (10+) have problems getting reservations they wanted, but for small groups 2-4 people there usually weren't any problems. Good food, lots of selection, great service at buffets and restaurants. They had everything to drink that I could have ever possibly wanted and I would consider myself to be a seasoned, professional. Beer selection very limited, but to me beer is beer. Jim Beam, Jack Daniels, Rum, Vodka, Southern Comfort, etc, etc....no problem. If you can't find something to drink here, you probably couldn't find something to drink anywhere. Go into town often. Take a taxi from the hotel. Never pay more than $$ each way. The Mango Deck and Tanga Tanga are definitely recommended for drinks and service. We were there for the NBA finals, couldn't get the game at the hotel. Both bars had the game and great food and drink deals. ATV tours are great. Watch your credit cards. Had my number stolen, thank god for Visa fraud dept. Book your transfers from airport to hotel and back in advance. They will screw you with all their time share "deals" if you don't. Cabo Wabo is a must. Relax and enjoy your stay. It will be wonderful.
