Great location and grounds, but the constant pressure to buy a time share was terrible. The staff were very courteous until we said no to a time share. There was a noticeable level of attention that dropped off when they learned that there was no sales potential. There is also a smell of the sewer when the wind direction changed from evening to morning. The hotel is very loud due to extreme echo. The food was great but expensive.

Wonderful!

We read some of the earlier reviews and were sceptical...once we arrived we new we were in paradise! Those negative reviews -- you can't believe what you read. Yes there are time share people everywhere -- starting at the airport -- just say 'no thank you' and walk away. The resort was incredible. Great beach & location. Incredible views. Saw whales, dolphins & sea lions from the beach every day. Great food that was made to order. Pizza was fantastic. Breakfast buffet had made to order omelets, eggs benedict, bagels with fresh salmon to name a few. Drinks were more than abundant. Go down early and get your beach or pool chairs...that's the case at any resort you'll ever stay at. Cabana boys waited on us on the beach all day. Everything was very clean & neat. Our only complaint was that we had to go home. We are definitely going back to VDP.

Great family vacation, recomend

This was the best vacation this year. We arrived after 4PM and after a short wait at the front desk we got our rooms. Two room for two adults and three kids. They were great. Beautiful ocean view, good size rooms, loved the mini fridge which was restocked daily. Very courteous staff, always greeted you with a smile. No tips necessary. Very helpfull. Food was delicious, so much to choose from, breakfast and dinner buffet were great. Lunch buffet could have been a bit better. Dinner at the reservation only restuarants was worth the time. Clean and warm pool. Plenty of places to sit and take in the Cabo Sun. Nightly entertainment was fair. All that beauty and truthfully, what really made it a bit unpleasant was the other guests. Those guest that partied all night and all day. You could hear the one's that bunked adjacent to you. I truly recomend this hotel. Next stop the Riu Hotel in Nassau!

We were booked at the Riu Santa Fe. Because of overbooking we wre upgraded to the Palace. It was awesome. Beautiful hotel, pool, beach, just like the pictures. Alcohol selection could be better. We managed to find somehting we liked to drink. Location to town was OK. We walked road to Cabo, took taxi back to hotel for $5 per person. Buffets were good. Lots of choices. Steak & Mexican restaurants were good. We were usually tired at night for the entertainment, but it was adequate. Staff friendly & helpful. Loved the waves of the ocean!

spring break

I was more impressed with the hotel than I thought I was going to be after reading previous reviews. I felt the staff was very helpful and they didn't hound me about taking a 90 minute time-share tour after I initially told them no. However, you need to do it, if you have the time, to get the "Gold Card" which gives you a 15% discount around the Villa Arco and Palmar if you think the discount is worth it. Breakfast was better and cheaper at the Palmar, but we had lunch at the Villa Arco. Beach is amazing and one of the few you can swim. Chairs were always available and service was good if you wanted to eat there. Pool seemed clean but the jacuzzi turned blond hair green immediately. We complained to the front desk and they had a printed sheet on how to rinse out the green, so they must get regular complaints. I would stay there again because It is clean and new, but you are close to the Palmar for their deli, internet, pharmacy, ice cream, and store. The store is extremely expensive, $9.00 for Wheat Thins, $5.00 for gallon water, but if you absolutely need something and don't want to go to a town store, it is convenient.
