Occidental is extremely overrated by far!!!!!We are seasoned travlers and I have never written a negative review in my life-until now!We had a view overlooking the parking lot! While
standing in the room it sounded like you were in Alaska with the wind gusts. Patios were so small it was hard to fit a chair. We had 3 major
power failures in 24hours (first one lasting more than 4 hours ) Poor air conditioning, roasting hot in hallways and elevators. (Tried booking restaurants and
could get nothing the first night, 9 at night the second nightand nothing at all for third night.(this was
June7-8-9 (off season) finally got June8 at 9pm. Good news-waitress took pity on us and
gave us an 8pm for the next night.(thanks to waitress) BIGGEST rip off is HORRIBLE
alcohol-no PRIEMUM brands-vodka tasted like bug spray. Did not even recognize any brands,Guests had problems drinking
strawberry daiquiris (imagine this?) Bartender did not know how to make a Gimlet (common drink) Maids would talk loudly in hallways-slamming things around-laughing-with NO regard to
time of day (early morning-late evening). Hard bed. Asked maid to refill mini bar and they suddenly can't speak
english!!!! Did not clean room 2nd day. Pool area is need of serious updating-need I say more????

we were married on 5-24-09. we checked in on 5-25-09. we were promised (like every other newelywed couple) champage, roses, free upgrade, massage and breakfast in the room. we received none of it. when we asked - everyone pointed the finger elsewhere until we got fed up with it. the fine dining was a joke - if you could get in someplace it was horrible. if you missed the reservations by even 5 minutes they refused to help you get in to another. none of the staff wanted to help. 10 other couples there at the same time experienced the exact same treatment from the staff. they were the laziest and worst behaved bunch of staff i have ever met in my 39 yrs. do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else where the staff actually cares how you are treated.

Great staff - friendly and helpful. Lovely room. Greeted by staff offering a cool washcloth as we checked in, then offered a cool drink. Luggage brought up to our room promptly. We had reservations at different activities and the quest services confirmed all of our activities and instructed us on the best way to get to the location. Quest services explained the currency, public transportation and suggested a few activities for our return trip. Wonderful view from the balcony of our room (small balcony), clean pool and beach. Bartenders were very good. Resort had security at the entrance from the beach. The all-inclusive part was the best. Did not have to worry about carrying lots of cash. We tipped the restaurant staff, yet most people don't. The resort has activities (crazy bingo, water aerobics, pool volleyball, etc). Use all the activiites (floats, snorkeling, kaykaking). Great shows at the resort.
You pay for what you get. This isn't the cheapest hotel, but worth every penny. Walked down the beach to a cheaper hotel area and the cliente was different.
Aruba is windy (18-20 mph winds). Water is not clear, yet it is not dirty, but it is blue. Staff speak Engilish, Dutch and the native language.
Saving up to go back. Very, very pleased with the vacation.

The overall resort was nice. The bedroom was clean. However, the sheets smelled of moisture / mildew. There was no snack bar. I can't drink all day and not have anything to eat with it.
