Description: We recently had the opportunity to visit Secrets Capri for a day. This ranks among our favorite All-Inclusive resort in Riviera Maya. We were not disappointed. We tend to prefer smaller resorts that provide the "extra" personal service that we appreciate.
Since our last visit, the entire resort has been upgraded to "Preferred Club" status, which means that all rooms are serviced by a concierge, you receive upgraded toiletries, robes and slippers, premium liquor and complimentary internet. Upon arrival you are greeted with champagne and cold towels. Check in is at a private desk - then it’s time to relax and enjoy.
The resort is built in a crescent along a sandy beach, so everything is within a short walking distance. You can choose an oceanview or tropical view which is more quiet. We prefer the ocean/pool view but unless you are a real sun worshipper you may find the balconies rather hot as the sun shines there all day.
The sandy beach has shade provided by palapas and Bali beds. The south end seems more crowded since it has a wider beach and accommodates three rows of palapas. Usually the water here is calm, but during our visit the ocean was rough and watersports were suspended due to remnants of a tropical storm. It still was very pleasant with waiter service for both drinks and food.
We do appreciate no arm bands, top shelf liquor, great food, friendly service, bilingual staff and a service level that Americans are accustomed to. The quality of food has not diminished as it has at many resorts lately. No reservations are needed for the four a la carte restaurants except for the Teppenyaki tables since the chef is cooking for the group. If you happen to get there at a busy time, you will be given a beeper so that you can enjoy a cocktail, entertainment, or the piano bar for a short while.
The new spa is in a separate building a short electric cart ride away. It is beautiful, has premium products, relaxing areas and water therapy pools with "waterfall" faucets to massage your back. The Honeymoon Massage Room is so romantic – dim lighting, very serene décor and a Jacuzzi tub surrounded by a beautiful natural rocky design. My only complaint is that there is a $59 per person charge per day to make use of the facilities if you have not booked a treatment on that day.
All in all, I continue to highly recommend this resort for its commitment to excellent customer service and a very minimal decline in food quality compared to many resorts.
