My aunt and I stayed at Mount Herbert Hotel on our first visit to Dublin. Although the hotel is located in the middle of Dublin, but it's within walking distance to the railway station which takes you to the main sightseeing locations. The hotel is in the middle of a nice residential area and close to the new soccer stadium. In the evenings it was very quiet so you got a goodnights sleep. The front desk staff was very friendly except for the staff in the breakfast room. The breakfast menu doesn't change much, but it was still pretty good. The hotel and rooms plain and clean. The beds were outstanding (super comfortable).
I would stay here again if I want to relax, but I would consider being around the Temple Bar area next time because you can just walk to your hotel instead of having to take the railway back to the hotel.
