These units are freestanding. They look a bit like large mushrooms sprouting from the sandy soil. This gives you plenty of privacy. The units have lots of windows in all of the rooms and two decks. One deck is off of the dining room and the other is off of the master bedroom. The units can sleep eight. There is a loft that the kids thought was pretty neat. We actually rented two adjacent units for our group of 12, so we had plenty of room. Even when we were all gathered together for quality family time there was room for everyone. The only downside to being there on a holiday was that there was no maintenance on Thanksgiving, and we had to wait a while after we called on Friday. We had a bathroom that was pretty nasty and nothing to clean it with, and a light bulb burned out over the dining table. We had a boat with us, and there is a free dock from which to launch your boat about a quarter of a mile from the townhouses. That was very convenient. It was a little chilly for boating, but we did it anyway. We took the boat up to New Bern one afternoon for a shore-side excursion of the original capital of North Carolina. It was quite charming.
