Hilton London Green Park

  • July 4, 2005
  • Rated 5 of 5 by londonkid from Littleton, Colorado
It was my first time in London, and my expectations weren’t to high. Arriving at the Hilton, I was shocked by how nice the rooms are and how bright and clean they are. Make sure to ask for a room overlooking the street. One tip - getting to your room is like jumping over hurdles, with kind of unique hallways.

It is a great little hotel on a side street, next to Green Park, which is next to Buckingham Palace. The Ritz is a block away, so it’s in a good location. The rooms have air-conditioner things, which help. It was a very, very nice stay, and I can’t wait to go back.

NEVER STAY HERE

This place was a disaster. It definitely gives the Hilton a bad name. Let?s go down the list: 1. No central air conditioning. They have this big air conditioning machine on the floor in your room, which requires that the window stay open about 12 inches for the air-conditioning machine vent tube to go out. And yes it?s noisy outside. At night I pulled in the massive tube inside and shut the window just so I could sleep ? thank goodness it wasn?t hot! 2. Want to make a local call - $8. 3. A 3 minute international call $40 (dialed by accident ? tried to use calling card, but no directions in the room on how to dial out, and the concierge and front desk could not tell you how to do it.) They refused to refund my money when I asked. 4. I?m a Hilton Honors member ? they could care less! 5. Worthless buffet breakfast $40 6. Tiny room that is on the same level as a Motel 6 in the U.S. ($350 US$ per night!!!) 7. Yes it?s in an ideal location, but believe me there are many hotels in central London that cost half as much and are 2-3x as nice. Examples: Byron Hotel 36 38 QUEENSBOROUGH TERRACE Millennium Hotel Mayfair 44 GROSVENOR SQUARE It?s just a matter of time before this place is closed down and completely re-built from the inside out.

not Hilton at its best

Concierges almost make up for tiny rooms, expensive breakfasts, and lack of room furnishings, especially drawer and closet space.

Great location. Very close to Buckingham Palace and Hyde Park and the Green Park tube stop. Rooms are pretty small but nice facilities. Staff are very friendly.
