Sol Duc Hot Springs "Resort"

Like most NP hotels/lodges/resorts this is over-priced and you are paying for the location. The location is based on the hot spring pools integral to the resort (but available for day use) and good hiking in old growth forest in the Olympic National Park.
Facilities involve almost total isolation from the outside world. No cell service, no TV, no radio, no phone in rooms (only a phone in the reception). Rooms are cabin style and very basic. They advertize a "private porch" and riverside location for some cabins. The river is about 30 feet away but not visible from the cabin due to undergrowth. The porch is private only in that it is dedicated for the use of the attached cabin.
Cleanliness is questionable, and a pervasive odor was present throughout our stay.
Pool and Hot Springs were crowded, and if sharing a giant hot tub with up to 50 complete strangers is your thing you will have a blast. If not, well, the staff have the best arrangement since they allegedly get to sneak in after hours.
Food is a little better than average, but is very overpriced as far as dinner is concerned. The mountain views from the window are interrupted by the aforementioned strangers in the springs. Service was spotty with technological (printer) problems in the kitchen. Breakfast is included in the rate, and is a full breakfast buffet (not just continenetal).
Places to go: Third Beach near La Push is highly recommended with outstanding tidepools and scenery (but includes a short hike to get there), Cape Flattery is a little further with stunning views of the coastline in the most NW'ly corner of the USA (but a $10 fee must be paid at Makah tribal centers).
Go for the location, not the resort.

I have been going to Sol Duc Hot Springs since 2000. I Recommend it to everyone. Most people in the Seattle area don't even know about it.
YES it is secluded, you will not find TV, Radio, internet and heaven forbid cell phones. This is an excellent place to get away from EVERYTHING and get back to nature. Go for a hike to Deer Lake and/or Mink Lake, Soak in the natural Hot springs, Get a relaxing massage and have an amazing dinner in Springs resturant. Go with and open mind and you will have a wonderful time. I can not wait to get back to the DUC!!!
way over priced

This is no "resort". I've stayed in better youth camps. The cabins are bare bones, and are not cleaned well. The food and lodging are over priced

I've stayed in better maintained and cleaned youth camps. Using the word "resort' with this facility is false advertising!

Not much to choose from in the area so this is it. Older cabins with dated furniture, no TV/radio but you come for the Hot Springs anyways which are very nice...good staff
