Pleasantly Surprised

Any airport bus can drop you off on O'Connell Street, the city's major epicenter. If you don't want to spend $140 in taxi fees to and from the airport, you can roll your luggage north and travel away from the river liffey, past the statue of Parnell, bear left until you reach a large church with a steeple, and turn right; the hotel will be on the right hand side of the street (5 minutes on foot). From O'Connell street, you can go anywhere in the city by local bus, tour bus or the LUAS tram can take you across the city or to the major train stations. From there, you can go anywhere in Ireland. Any trip to Dublin requires lots of walking, stay here and rest your feet. Our hotel room was very big and clean. The beds were very comfortable, the bathroom was better than any bathroom I've seen before in Dublin. Everything was generally in good condition. They have decent TVs with cable and even ethernet jacks in the rooms. It has a nice looking lounge and restaurant below if you're tired from a long day of exploring Dublin. The only problem we encountered was on one of the five nights we stayed at the hotel. Barry's Hotel across the way serves Guinness pints for 3 euros (cheaper than I've seen anywhere in Dublin). Most of the neighborhood's noise can be attributed to patrons of that establishment, as well as the nearby bus route. However, I have stayed at other hotels in Dublin and, to be honest, none of them were quiet. If you want to pay 2-3 times more for a room closer to Temple Bar, half the size and of inferior quality when compared to the Belvedere Hotel, be my guest. I'm staying here.

We stayed here for 6 days/5 nights. The cost and location were a great value for Dublin. Shopping close by and everything else you need. We flew overnight and arrived at the hotel very early in the morning. The staff was very gracious and got us a nicer room than we had booked and let us check in early for no additional fee. The walk to Temple Bar is probably about 15 minutes. The hotel is on O'Connell Street where you will find everything. There are plenty of deli's, restaurants, etc within a very easy walk. For a stay this long I would have preferred to have a hotel with ac and I wish the beds had been a bit more comfortable. Showering tended to heat up the room, but I was expecting that. If you're are looking for a clean, affordable place to stay, this is it. You can catch the Air Link bus from the airport and get off at O'Connell and from there it's about 4 blocks to the hotel.

Very loud.

Hotel is located above & beside a very loud bar and across the street from a Lap Dance Club that swings well into the very wee hours. I don't mind a bit of noise when I'm in a city, but this was off the charts. The breakfast is expensive if it's not included, and not very good. On the plus side, the staff are very nice, but someone who knows the area should draw up an information sheet w/useful numbers for hotel residents, as the staff are not familiar with the area. The rooms are nice and clean, but again, if you're planning on sleeping, you may want to stay elsewhere.
