Great location and Exceptional service

We spent four nights in Barcelona at the Avenida Palace. The hotel is beautiful and located in the perfect spot around the corner from Las Ramblas, next to shopping, restaurants, Gaudi's Casa Battlo and Casa Milo. The location is perfect, an easy walk to activities but not as noisy as right on Las Ramblas would be. The entire staff from the front desk to housekeeping is extremely helpful and pleasant. The breakfast is delicious and the rooms are clean and spacious. The lobby is a great place to meet and have drinks. The only minor concern is that the walls do not keep out the noise from neighboring rooms, but nightlife and some noise are a part of the Barcelona experience. I would recommend this hotel to anyone visiting Barcelona!

" Staying at the Avenida Palace was such a plus. Very close to Rambla Catalunya, the Gothic area, Gaude's magnificent creations, Parc Gwuel, the Catedral, etc. Half hour walk to the Mediterranean and Sagrada Familia. The hotel phone charges were steep. Use a pay phone instead. Also, ask for an outside room. The inside rooms look over a cement block courtyard. The lobby is delightful. Piana entertainment nightly. Most of the staff gracious and helpful. Very elegant. The Beatles stayed here in their heydey. Beautiful woodwork and decor in the rooms. Old world charm. "

Great Hotel!

We were thrilled with the hotel and it's location. Our room was spacious and had a spectacular view. Located just two blocks from the top of La Rambla; it is near a metro stop, shopping, and within two blocks of the main tourist office. Passage de Gracia is around the corner with many restaurants; just blocks from Gaudi's Casa Mila. We felt very comfortable strolling through the area even late at night. The hotel breakfasts were ok, but got monotonous with pretty much the same offerings each day. The hotel staff was pleasant, accommodating, and evening pianist a treat.

Doubles were good sized rooms with either twins (which could be made up into a queen) or full size beds. Double windows to keep noise out, good size bathroom with shower/bath combo. Staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly.

Location was ideal. One bolce from Placa de Cataluna and the historical district.

Except for the initial Saturday night, prices for this SRS Luxury hotel were reasonable - 135 Euro for a single and 170 for a double, and included a full breakfast. Negotiated directly with the hotel. Will stay again when we go back.

The fine Avinida Palace seems to be in the perfect location in Barcelona, as it is near the Placa Catalunya, many prominent "modernisme" buildings, and about 1000 other things. There is a Metro stop very close by, along with the main tourism information center, airport bus stop, train station stop. I cannot emphasize how good the location is!

This venerable older hotel, an independent property but a member of the SRS consortium, does not show any signs of age thanks to its recent renovation. The hotel has an older atmosphere to it, even though it is celebrating only its 50th anniversary this year. There are 9 floors with 160 rooms, so this is not a huge hotel despite its grand appearance. The lobby is cozy, with a masculine dark color scheme. There is a fancy central stair that adds to the elegance and "old Europe" charm of the lobby area.

My standard room was average-sized but very comfortable, with two double-sized beds. The decor is classic and traditional, nothing too fancy or unorthodox. Our room faced the busy Gran Via thoroughfare, but the double-glassed rooms kept out any excess noise.
