Our Family stayed here last year and are returning again this year. Resort was perfect for us. Rooms were all suites and large, full kitchen and dining area. Screened in porches (large) on balcony. Restaurant on-site was excellent and had waitress service on the beach for lunch during the day. Free Hobie Cats, Snorkel equipment, and kayaks. Staff was more than happy to teach you sail the Hobie Cats, or let you go solo. 2 pools, hammocks, outrageous beach. Concierge service on the beach to schedule excursions for snorkeling, Conch diving, parasailing, banana boats etc. Quiet, relaxing, clean family getaway. Perfect vacation, see you there in February.
Not what it used to be.

The Sands has a great location , right on Grace bay. Even though they renovated it the rooms still look old.
When we checked in we had no air conditioning. I had to wait 2 hours before someone finally made it to my room so we could prove we had no air.
The menu in the restaurant is boring and never has changed in 10 years.
They say they have live music at nights, there was none.
The nights were quite and boring forcing us to eat late so we could pass time.
There are many new hotels opened since the sands opened and I will try one of those next.

the resort is very clean in general. Staff could be a bit more friendly but overall quite helpful. The beach is simply great. The hotel has many facilities like boat, kayak and snorkeling set to borrow for free. But Turks&Caicos is not well developed with public transportation. Will rent a car there next time for longer stay. The kitchen in the Sands is great but we couldn't use it because we don't have a car to go grocery shopping. Taxi can take you the supermarket but $8 each person.. Overall, very clean hotel though the bed can be more comfortable.
Good in most - terrible in others

We booked this trip as a 10 yr vow renewal on the beach - family of 4 - even with months of planning and a dozen emails the ceremony was completely blotched ...no cake, no beach setup, no champagne, no NOTHING - really ruined the vacation for us ... however their terible conceirge aside - the resort is a nice clean resort with some very good staff -
the pools were nice and the beach equipment was very good including snorkling equipment and Hobie cat. On site restaurant very good. Great screened porches!
Great Place! I've never written a review, but...

We just came back from our honeymoon, and would definitely recommend The Sands to anyone who is going to Turks and Caicos. This was a tremendous deal. The Sands is located right where you want to be in Turks-- Grace Bay. Grace Bay is one of the nicest beaches you'll ever visit. The Sands is a couple of blocks from some small shopping and a few bars/restaurants. The hotel is right on the beach and is extremely nice without being overly pretentious. We never had trouble finding an empty chair/umbrella to use on the beach or by the pool. It was very relaxing, and the staff was extremely courteous. Hemingway's, the restaurant on site, was very nice and moderately priced compared to neighboring restaurants we visited. They had a little bit of everything on the menu.
The Sands provides a pleasant/relaxing atmosphere. Definitely worth the stay. If you can upgrade your room to an Oceanfront/Oceanview DO IT! The rooms are great size! When we checked in, we thought there was some sort of mistake because the room was so nice and big. A great place.
