This is one of the oldest but, in my opinion, also the best hotel on the coast. Set high on a rock cliff above the turquoise sea, the 204 comfortably furnished rooms have unobstructed views of the coast and the Mediterranean. An elevator whisks guests down to a large clean private patio at sea level, which has its own restaurant, along with beach chairs and easy access to the water. There’s also an Olympic-size pool up at the top nestled in between the sparkling white hotel and the cliff’s edge. A five-star restaurant and a relatively genteel ambiance round out the many attractions. (Many of the coast’s other hotels are too “busy” and noisy to suit this traveler. My favorite room is Aqua no. 10, which costs around $200/day for two, including a great breakfast buffet.)
