Room 723 by Elevator...Horrible!!!

The renovated hotel lobby and rooms are very nice looking, but that's it. They put me in room 723 which shares a wall with the elevator shaft...so...all night long I heard the elevator going up and down, not to mention people talking and laughing VERY loudly! UGH!!! I think I got about 3 hours of sleep. Also, I had issues using the card to get in my room. It took SEVERAL tires to get in. The food at breakfast was okay, but buffet style and not that great. It took awhile for the waitress to come by with coffee. The location is not too bad, however, only a few blocks from Rockefeller Center and not too far from Times Square. I would seriously take pause considering staying here again. I would ask NOT to be put so close to the elevator.

Great Value!

I was a little aprehensive about staying here after reading some mixed reviews here and on other sites. I am glad to say my stay here was great! The room was clean, the beds were comfy, and the location was perfect! The pictures show the TV is small but ours was 32"!! It was a little too expensive to eat at the hotel but there is a inexpensive cafe right next door in the same building open till midnight! There is one subway on the same corner and another one about 2 blocks away. You are also within walking distance to S. Central Park, Rockefellar, the Sony Wonderlab, the MOMA, plus more I'm sure. The room service arrived quickly (although expensive), the bell man was helpful not pushy and they have security checking room keys late at night which is great. I was there during the holidays and it was extremely busy but everything still went off without a hitch. The check in/out was smooth. As for the acual rooms and hotel some people were saying that it was old and dingy. Although some of the paint above the tub was peeling everything else was fine. BIG DEAl!!! Some people just look for anything to complain about. I am very picky about where I stay and I would definately stay here again. Just get a package deal to save more money. As a matter of fact I probably WILL stay here next time I visit!

Would Return

Good hotel, would return.Updated, clean rooms with everything needed except coffee pot, but nice litttle inexpensive coffee/sandwich/salad place right next door. Nice lobby bar, good staff, helpful bellmen, very close to subway one stop from Grand Central connections to everywhere. Great restaurants nearby, close to shopping and walking distance to Rock Center, yet out of the Times Square buzz. Police precinct on same block, so safe.Walk to Bobby Flay's Bar Americain Restaurant for a great meal!

Centrally located. About 8 blocks from Times Square and right next with the Subway system to ride uptown and downtown to other locations. Within walking distance of many great restaurants and shopping. Nice rooms, good size, comfy bed. My only complaint would be that I thought that wifi internet was included in the room, but it was an additional $$ per 24 hr period.

Pleasant experience

The Doubletree is extremely well located. It is within walking distance of a number of restaurants. There is a subway station nearby. The rooms are pretty large, the beds comfortable and the service good. This was our second stay at this hotel and I recommend it.
