I did not want to go to Sweden.
Wow!
GoogleEarth maps of Uppsala and reviews/photos I read did not make it look inviting to me and I was reluctant to be in a place which I was certain would be really (in a negative sense) foreign.
I was so totally wrong!
The people I encountered were quite like the people I run into where I live.....the hotel location is excellent as in the same block as the hotel is an indoor waliking mall; within 2 blocks +/- are the Linnaeus garden, a great tiny bookstore, a burger king, the University of Uppsala, a famous and beautiful church, a terrific museum and also the location where one of the observations of the Transit of Venus was made. (A Bill Bryson topic).
Television includes lots of American shows. English.
Breakfast is excellent with numerous selections.
Robes and slippers may be included or can be brought upon request.
Hotel is in the center part of the town and, being close to alcohol hangouts, results in lots of noise starting around midnight.....lots, at least, if you're on the street side and have the windows open.
All over a good memory of the whole place.
(almost forgot: English required beginning in elementary school.
