I dont recommend this hotel

  • July 27, 2007
  • Rated 2 of 5 by a traveler from Travelocity.com
I stayed here two different times in the last month and I dont recommend this hotel at all. Its nice on the outside, but VERY old on the inside. Beds are uncomfortable. No Air Conditioning in the rooms, Rooms are outdated and VERY old. Gave us a Smoking room when we requested Non and would not change it. Made us feel like we were wrong. Concierge didnt know many city details. Asked when Harrods closed and he said 5. Walked downtown and it closed at 9. Concierge was supposed to book transport to airport and never did. Kept blaming his other co-worker. Found staff very unfriendly and unwilling to help. Power went out on 3 floors one night for 2 hours and there was no "Sorry" or anything. Given light sticks so we could find out way. I would stay away. Get something a little more modern with nicer staff..

Horrible Experience

Spent 7 nights in this overpriced, poorly maintained and depressingly dreary hotel. Caliber of staff is very mediocre. Breakfast buffet is bland & boring. Peeling paint, broken furniture & nonworking air cond. in the guest room. Negotiating all the narrow hallway doors with luggage is a nightmare.

Terrible stay

This was the most depressing hotel. The entire hotel has not been updated since the 1950's and it smells like musty cigarette smoke everywhere you go. I will never stay here again.

Thistle Kensington

The hotel was small; there was a restaurant serving breakfast, vending machines, brilliant maid service, and excellent staff. Each room had a safe--very important to stow away passports, tickets, etc. It's very close to Hyde Park and Kensington Palace, so I was able to jog every morning.
