Nice Condo

We had a very spacious, clean condo at the Anchorage. Its not a hotel, and not the Ritz, but very nice for the price. The beach is ok, its an interesting, short walk to the beach at the Elysian, which is nicer. This is a very quiet, residential area, if you want to party all night, I wouldn't stay there. The maid service wasn't daily, but she did a great job every other day. there is a washer/dryer and a dishwasher which was very nice, and for the first time on the islands, a refridgerator with an icemaker that actually worked! We have been to St. Thomas about 8 times in the last 5 years, this was a very nice place to stay. I'd pick this over Sapphire any day, even though they have a nicer beach. My only complaint was that the bath towels were like sandpaper - especially on slightly sunburnt skin.

A very good choice -- nice location, large rooms, and convenient to everything. This is a condo unit and not a place to go if you?re expecting lots of beach activities. The restaurant is closed and you will need to rent a car from the local guy to get around ? taxis will kill your budget. Short drive from Red Hook (most restaurants close at 10:00), Sapphire Beach (great snorkeling with condo supplied free gear) and ? hour to main shopping areas.

We were very happy with the Anchorage. Our condo unit was very clean and had everything we needed to cook breakfast and/or snacks which saved us a lot of money. It was quiet and friendly. Beds were comfortable. Laundry facilities were included, but the maid service would put the towels in the washer and I was expected to wash them. This surprised me because I thought the hotel would provide this service. Also there is a gate with complicated steps to go through to get in. This was sometimes frustrating. I don't think you will be disappointed if you stay at the Anchorage

The Anchorage was a large, nice condo on the beach. The staff was helpful and the place was clean and neat. It was a great deal for the money. Taxis are a fortune, bring plenty of money!

The Anchorage Beach Resort

The Anchorage wasn't really a resort in my opinion; it was a condo community. We knew we were staying in a condo, but were deceived by the word resort. In the end, we were very pleased with our three-bedroom space. There were two full baths and one half bath - very convenient for five women (my brave father was the only guy!). Our balcony was great since we were in room no. 224, right next to the beach.

There is a tennis court and a pool that was great to cool off in. I wasn't too thrilled about the condition of the beach; there was so much seaweed and lots of rocks in the water, so we didn't actually swim in the ocean there.

Also, we had a big problem checking in - there was no office. The office had moved the week before to the Point Pleasant resort. We wasted 2 hours waiting to get our key. Anchorage, you need to get it together!
