I stayed at the Grand March 2 - 9, 2009 - I have stayed at this hotel before when it was the Hyatt - it is just as good now as then - the location is excellent and so are the rooms - service is very good - I have to give this hotel 4stars for Acapulco - it is difficult to find a truly good hotel in Acapulco as many are older and not maintained - the Grand is maintained well - my recommendation is to try to get a suite on the flat-frontal-part of the hotel - if you have the budget it is one of the best rooms in Acapulco called the Regency Suite - the downside is the food/restaurantes - breakfast buffet is good - but the rest is NOT !! - go find a good restaurante outside the hotel - and Walmart is one block away - tourist tip: 5pesos will take you on the bus to Caloso and 5 pesos will bring you back to the hotel (bus stop in front of the OXXO hotel side) - and 5 pesos will take you to Hornos (the real Acapulco) and 5 pesos back to the Grand Hotel - your hotel in Base - everything is written on the front bus windows - best tour you will get for a buck and see the real Acapulco Mexico !!! - Acapulco is dangerous so do not go out at night or stay close to the hotel and taxis - enjoy ! - Amigo
A Little Worn Around the Edges

The Hyatt Regency must have been a very impressive hotel in its heyday, but that day is past. Remanents of its former glory are visible in the extremely large rooms and beautiful grounds and pools. Maintenance, however, is lacking. There are gouges in the marble floors, and chips in the tile bathroom walls. The place is clean and the view and location are marvelous. It was a good buy for the price.

Booked because it's a Hyatt. Checked out after 1 day! 5 girls on vacation and we had 2 rooms. The room took 2 hours to prepare, we had to wait till almost 6pm and checkin is 3. Not much worked in the room, do not count on the hairdryer, maybe its there and maybe it works. Forget extra towels, it takes 6 hours and 3 phone calls! If you reserved a rollaway, YOU WONT GET ONE! Even the manager does not care! Good luck with a working toilet, they do not have time to fix it. Make sure you know that the key goes in the wall for the electricity since the maintenance guy will go off on you. The staff will walk in whenever they want, they dont care, no apology! If you call to fix anything or if they do not have something in the room and they actually show up, THEY WANT A TIP! Forget the elevators, its a mad dash to get in one!! Theres 50 people waiting for 1 elevator at all times. If your not fast then forget ever getting to your room. Just as a word of warning, unless you like the beach venders, stay by the pool, I left after 5 minutes and 200 venders later! The lobby was pretty.

My wife and I stayed for a week and after reading some reviews, we expected less. This hotel was in a great location, convenient to the bus (right across the street) and Starbucks and restaurants, (a few short blocks walk each morning). The hotel staff was as perfect as one can expect and the remodeled room we had with the ocean/pool view and balcony was a steal for the price. There were all you can eat buffets with live music on the beach and pool deck each night as well. I will recommend this Hyatt especially for the price!

As others have commented, I really liked the hotel lobby, grounds, pools, and staff. However, the rooms were really lacking. This hotel should not be a "Regency". The mattress was thin and uncomfortable, everything was just old and rundown in the room. The room felt like an old motel not a Hyatt Regency.
