Description: Going to Edinburgh was always on my list of cities to see. It seems like such an old city but still modern with a modern centre with shops, nightlife and museums. It’s the main city of Scotland with a rich history. We went here a couple of days. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Edinburgh.
This hotel is located between the city centre and the airport of Edinburgh with a good transportation links. There are regular busses going almost every 15 minutes so you never have to wait for long. What’s best about the location of the hotel is that it’s right near the large Edinburgh Zoo! Definitely a recommendation when going to the city of Edinburgh.
This hotel looks really good from the outside, just as you expect of a hotel. It is situated on a busy road with a lot of busses and there are also a large number of aircrafts flying over. If you're outside the hotel, you do hear a lot of noise but at night there are no flights.
If you enter the hotel it looks impressive. Everything is modern, but tastefully decorated. We were extremely friendly to speak to. Next to the desk, there were lockers where you could store your valuables. The checking in went really easy and fast since all our details were already known at the hotel. After the checking in we were pointed to our room which was easily reachable by taking the elevator.
We found the room very well and very nice furnishings: TV, minibar, large double bed and large wardrobe. The bathroom was also very pleasant to use. Everything was spotlessly clean.. There were always plenty of towels and washcloths available. The noise of car, train and air traffic was a bit annoying and it something that didn’t keep me awake during the night. I think it must be because of the very comfortable bed we were sleeping in.
In the morning we enjoyed a breakfast buffet with all the trimmings. There was simply nothing to improve, especially because of the many different types of bread, cereals, meats, freshly squeezed orange juice, fresh cut fruit, and much more). The staff were really pleasant during the breakfast and we were helped straight away when we walked into the room.
This is a great hotel its location alone could be better as you come in the city as a tourist although there are good transportation links. For us the hotel was fine because we were with car so we could go to the wedding easily enough. We did go into town with public transport and it’s doable. The service and decor of the hotel is perfectly fine. If you are using a cheap hotel or other offer and you can book the bad location of the hotel takes for granted, this hotel is an absolute must.
