Great View .. Excellent Location

I stayed in the Renaissance KL in June 2009. The best thing about the hotel was its location. The Monorail is just opposite the hotel so is very convenient to go to near by shopping malls. I remember taking my wife out for a evening walk and in about 10 minutes we reached the Twin Towers! The hotel itself has a very large swimming pool (the largest I have see in a hotel I think). The gym is also quite big and that was a great plus for me as I prefer doing my morning work outs. The hotel has two big blocks... i think they call it East an West wing. I personally preferred the Club level rooms of the East wing because they have the fantastic view of the Twin Towers. The food of the hotel has great variety because they have so many options... i remember we were there for a week and we went to a new restaurant every day and that to in the hotel itself! The staff was courteous and friendly... You just need to speak a little slow and make sure they understand... but then again that issue I see with most hotels in Asia... Overall.... Perfect Holiday and a great hotel to stay in... would definitely come back and recommend...

Roaches in room

The first room we were put in had roaches- total of 3 seen in the first 5 minutes on returning to the room at night. We were then "upgraded" to a better room. While no roaches it wasn't really an upgrade so much as slightly newer sheets on a higher floor. The "upgrade" room had mildew all over the bottom of the shower curtain. Also had a problem with checking out- where the hotel tried to double charge my credit card- had to argue that payment was actually through travel website. That being said- location is really great- the Petronas towers were right out the window. I actually booked the hotel while in KL Malaysia. Got off the monorail and walked around the station where I noticed a few hotels. After asking for a few rates- I used internet and happened to notice the name was one I just had seen. Price was good, and like I said location was nice, but I would hesitate staying again, However could be really nice if they cleaned up the pests / mildew and remodeled a tad.
