Wonderful Resort – Amazing Vacation

My wife and I stayed a full week at Occidental Xcaret and we enjoyed every second of it. We were told because we were on our honeymoon we were invited to a special VIP breakfast at the Royal Club the following morning, we found out it was just a time share/sales pitch and bailed. The entire Staff was very friendly and helpful- bring singles for tips! The resort is beautiful and huge; there is so much to see, so much to do. The food is ok depending on the night and where you eat. Our mattress was to firm for us but the amount of alcohol we consumed made it tolerable. We can’t wait to go back

We visted this resort this past month. When we arrived at the resort (11 pm) to check in, we were told that there was an additional charge of $450 per room. We we given the option of paying the charge immediately or leaving the resort. We were told that online travel website had not paid the hotel in full and that we had to pay it. The hotel was a rip off. We were not given the free tickets to the Xcaret park and we were told that the reservations for the restaurants were full. The hotel is beautiful, but lacks proper ethics in it's management skills. Hotel rooms were not cleaned up until after 5 pm.

My wife and I had a wonderful weeklong vacation (early June) at Occidental Xcaret. The entire Staff (front desk, concierge, waiters, bartenders, cleaning, entertainment) was very friendly and helpful- bring singles for tips! No complaints on our room. Yes, we were asked to take the Royal Club time share, but we kindly said "No Thanks" and were not hassled at all after that. The resort is huge! A lot of walking but we did not mind it since there is so much to see (landscaping, birds, many animals). The Beach Club is a great place to have breakfast / lunch overlooking the Caribbean. Yes, the beach is small but is still a great place to relax, swim, drink and feed a lot of different types of fish. There are a number of pools - we enjoyed the swim-up bar pool since it had a nice party atmosphere, where we also had a fun time playing water volleyball with other guests we met. The activity pool nearby is also a lot of fun -- they have water aerobics, bellyflopping contest, dance lessons and much more, with outstanding Staff that makes it a lot of fun! The food at the main buffet (different themes) and speciality restaurants we went to (La Hacienda, Oriental, Mediterranean) was good. My wife is a vegetarian and had much to choose from. I recommend Pacos Tacos for late night snack and drinks, especially since the waiters are so much fun there! Many different alcoholic drinks to choose from at many bars- bartenders would pour in extra if I wanted a stronger drink. The evening entertainment at outdoor theater was worth the time - the host is really funny and there is audience participation. Xcaret Park is a must, especially the Mayan show! Overall, an excellent vacation!!

The resort was very clean, staff was very friendly and helpful. Several pools with activities to enjoy. Beach was small but nice and clean. Food was excellent, buffet and specialty restaurants. Pacos tacos were a great late night snack! Drinks were average but they had a large selection. Entertainment in the evenings was enjoyable, nice variety over several nights. Make sure when booking for more than 2 people that you are clear about the per person rate, we had to pay an additional fee of $* for our adult daughter upon arrival at the resort. A little frustrating to say the least.

Miss it already

If you want night life @ the resort versus going into town, this probably isn't the best resort for you. The pools shut down at Sunset & the bars were not very crowded. Overall, my husband and I were very happy despite that. The only bad note was the hounding from your building concierge trying to get you do the timeshare demo. I know they work on commision, but no is no. We were very up front from the day we arrived saying we would not participate in a time share meeting. But we were consistently reminded of it each time we went back to our rooms. If you can get over that, everything else was wonderful. Everyone we met was very pleasant and the pools were big and not overcrowded. I truly loved the natural pool by the ocean and that we had ruins on the resort. The biggest plus was the one day pass to Xcaret Eco-Park. We went first thing in the morning and had the Cenotes all to ourselves. I would highly recommend this resort to families and couples.
