The only resort I've ever been to

As long as you are tipping and tipping well, you will be treated very well. The food is excellent at all of the the resturants (the buffet is average). X was my favorite. I like that you can get food pretty late, I believe till midnite or later. The bartenders are fun and friendly. There are definately communication issues with the front desk. The first time we went, they didn't re-stock our fridge until we asked about 5 times. The second time we went our rooms weren't ready. The pools are nice, the beach is beautiful and the staff for the most part is friendly. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Although it has it's gliches, I would go back again and again....but then again it is the only resort I've ever been to.
Well.... our 9 day trip to the Wyndham....

First off, the grounds are beautiful and the beach is really, really perfect! We stayed on the Sabor side, which was well-deserved the extra money. The specialty restaurants were outstanding. Food was very tasty and the appearance of the food was top notch. The customer service on the Sabor side was not excellent, just seemed to be bothered or just not helpful. The resort is not too spread out, so that was a plus. The beach was beautiful, the sunsets were absolute and snorkeling from the resort was absolutely great. We seen lots of exotic fish and stingrays right from the beach resort. The grounds are impecable, which hats off to you for that. Now, as far as the buffet, was not worth it at all, except for the fresh fruit. Staff seemed friendly, but just wasn't what we were used to. The resort was very safe and the island is beautiful. Would rate this resort as a 2 or 2 1/2 at the most. Was not overly priced, but the rooms are nice, bed are hard, but overall, we had a fantastic trip. As far as staying at the Wyndham again... very doubtful. It was not horrible, but sure there are some better properties on the island around the same price range.

The hotel setting and beach were spectacular. The rooms were comfortable and clean, but the bathroom s were in much need of updating. The lighting was so bad you could barely see yourself in the mirror. We never had warm water for a shower. Water was always cool. Don't stay in the rooms with thatched roofs unless you want to be awaken at 5 a.m. everyday. .The birds gather on the roof and squack for 2 hours and the straw falls all over you while your in bed. It sounds like they're in the room with you !! We had to cover our heads with the sheets so we wouldn't be full of straw. Ask for an oceanfront room on the ground level so you don't have to deal with the birds. The overall service was good, but the food at the buffet was terrible. We were there six days and they served the same buffet everyday. Morning , noon, and night ! The food in Roberto's restuarant was great! You had to make a reservation by 1 p.m. to get a table there. There was only one bartender at the outdoor bar everyday, so the wait for a drink could be 15 minutes long. Whatever you do don't lose your towel at the pool. They will charge you 25 dollars for a lost pool towel. So the people that have lost track of their towel will try and take yours ! If we go back we will stay in the adults only section. We looked at the rooms while we were there, and they were fabulous.Beautiful, clean and very updated !
A Tale of Two Resorts All on One Property!

I would like to preface this journal with my experience in all Inclusive resort properties. My wife and I have stayed in several over the years in Mexico and Jamaica. As for the Wyndham I feel the property has a long way to go the live up to the service and friendlieness we are used to in this type of resort. We began our stay on my wifes birthday. The property immidiately got off on the wrong foot by not having the type of room we requested when the trip was booked. They did however rectify that the next day by putting us in a room with a King size bed. The room was very nice however for three days we did not have any hot water to shower with. We were very patient with the staff after all we are in Mexico.... We also noticed that one of the resturaunts that was advertised even the day we arrived never opened.... When asked about this the front desk had no idea that the resturaunt was closed. Only after speaking with a manager did we find out that the resort was low occupancy so they took it out on us by reducing service.. Our Apple Vacation Represenative Vincinti got an ear full for three solid days. We were offered to move to another resort up the road or to upgrade to the exclusive Sabor side of the Wydham. We decided to give this a try and were pleasantly supprised that the Sabor side was very nice and the staff much more friendly. Our room was a long way from the ocean however we had water slides and a bar that served top shelf alcohol.
This by the way was my 20th wedding anniversary trip and I was hoping it to be very special. We did have a very nice dinner in the only resturaunt that I found eddible, Roberto's The food there never changed.
The other resturaunts that we had access to were one buffet and a snack bar when we were at the non Saber side of the resort. By upgrading to Sabor we got room service 7a to 10p with a very limited menu. The Buffet had the same food daily and it was cold most of the time.
Everyone that I talked to in this resort was having stomach problems including my wife and I. As I write this journal I am considering if I can eat food here in Kansas City today because my stomach is still screwed up..
Sand Dollar Sports was the dive shop at the resort and I did have a very good time learning to dive in their pool and at 40 feet on the reef. However was misled about the price of a second dive and was going to be charged almost double.. I think it was because I was the only one wanting to dive that day....
All in all I am not disgusted by this resort but I would never return for any reason or price. Its not worth the hassel that we endured on a birthday/anniversary trip.
I would like to say that Apple Vacations did try to make the trip better and I am disgusted that I had to resort to them to get things fixed the hotel should have done it when I asked.
From journal Cozumel Great for Divers Others Beware!
Good Value

My Husband, son (15), and I went the week of 4/11/09 for 7 nights. I have to say that I have never seen a staff work harder to make everything perfect. I think people expect "top notch" 5 star amenities, on a beer budget. Where on earth can you get so much, for so little! Plenty of good food to select from, no lines at the bars, drinks were not "watered down". Fire show on the beach was absolutely incredible! Great island, plenty to do, great place, nice job Wyndahm staff. Thanks for making our stay a super one!
