Horrible Experience

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights. We booked only 2 nights at the time of our reservation but decided to book an additional night at the time of check-in. The girl who checked us in didn't add the additional night so when Sunday rolled around they wanted to charge us 1 1/2 mor4e than the original price. We fought them and they reluctantly gave us the room at the agreed price. The hotel was so dirty, there was bedbug on the bed and sheets so we asked to bed moved to another room, same problem in the 2nd room and my legs and arms are completely torn up with bites. In the 2nd room the shower would not drain. The pools were filthy dirty. At every corner of the hotel someone would try and sell you a timeshare, so tacky you can;t even relax.

We recently traveled to cozumel, 5/16/09 to 5/23/09, this was a packaged dive trip and we had a great time. The hotel is very nice, full tile on the floors so they is no bad or dirty carpet, the rooms were very clean. Our package included food and local beverages, beer and tequila were included, it was well worth it. The staff were friendly and attentive, the food and amenities were great. We were very lucky that the swine flu had reduced their bookings by 25% so there was plenty of room at the pool in the afternoon. Our group was large enough to have its own dive boat, which was nice, the diving was great and the crew and divemasters did a great job of finding the best diving. We will definitly go back.

Good value, great for diving, loved the ocean view.
Staff was very helpful.
We went for a quick getaway to do some diving and were very pleased from the time we got there to the time we left. It met the expectations we had.
We used the Dive House on site for our diving and were very happy with the whole experience.

Stayed at the Fiesta Americana on the advise of a friend who has been there many times. Found the hotel to be very nice with great staff who go out of their way to help. Room was clean and the bed was great. View of the ocean was incredible. Used wi fi signal from the lobby by sitting on the balcony, kind of a slow signal, but I wasn't in a hurry. Snorkeling right at hotel is great. Did not do the all inclusive and wouldn't recommend unless you just want to stay put. We made it around the island twice and found many great places to eat. Highly recommend the Money Bar just north of the hotel. Would consider the all inclusive if we bring the kids, less hassle.
One regret, I didn't snorkel the stretch from the Money Bar to the hotel. Didn't use the hotel pool once.

EATS: We had a package including continental breakfast buffet. Buffet was always well-stocked. Service was attentive. We had one lunch at the beach-side Reef Restaurant - good service; fair food; gorgeous view.
ROOM: We had a "Grand Class" cost-level room. It was spacious, well configured, and had a groovie balcony over-looking the sea and all the activity there - dive boats at the resort dock, passing boats headed for the southern reefs, snorkelers in the water right at the resort beach area and cruise ships in the distance. We recommend that you request the highest floor level available to take full advantage of this view and to escape the sometimes noisy pool activities. The balcony is a must for chilling-out after a full day exploring the island.
AMENITIES: We enjoyed a professional massage in the beach area.
STAFF: Front Desk staff were knowledgable and professional. The concierge gave us useful advice on "snorkling from shore" hot-spots. We have read previous reviewers' comments about agressive sales-pitching in the lobby for time-share packages at this hotel. This seems to be a thing of the past. They are more discreet in their offers to get you discounts on island activities [like snorkeling boat trips] in exchange for hearing their sales pitch.
LOCATION: This hotel was in the perfect location for us. It was near enough to the town of San Miguel for gassing up the car and getting pesos at the ATM and dining. It is also convenient to the southern beach clubs (Palancar Beach, Alberto's, Corona Beach) and also Chankanaab Park. Best of all The Money Bar is a stone's-throw down the road (an easy walk) for sunset-viewing and good happy hour deals nightly and live music on the weekends. Also nearby is the friendly and trippy Piratas Restaurant (go there).
