Absolutely Wonderful Stay!

It's always a great time when you can get away for a few nights just to relax and sip on a nice cool drink by the beach or pool, eat fantastic food, and turn in to a most comfortable room at the end of the day. This is exactly what we experienced at Intercontinental. Upon arrival, the tropical foliage was breathtaking. Grounds were groomed with perfection!! Check in was super fast and we were on our way to our beachfront room. Literally beachfront. Like walk out onto the balcony (where our hammock was waiting for us) and a few steps further you are on the sand. Our room location was great, Scuba Du's palapa was just a few steps further from our room so my husband didn't have to carry his gear far to meet the boat in the morning to dive (I haven't worked up the nerve yet beyond snorkeling, but I'll get there). Antonio at Scuba Du was amazing and a real pleasure to work with for setting up the Diving package for my husband. Thanks Antonio!!!
So, back to the room description....
VERY large room, all tile floors (most cases in CZM and CUN), bed was among the most comfortable I've had in my Mexico stays, flat panel TV, large sitting area. Then, the bathroom.... shower and toilet in one room, LARGE garden tub and dressing area with 2 sinks in another room with your wonderful Elemis toiletries (shampoo, conditioner, lotions, etc), then outside on the private patio is your outdoor rock shower. YES, outdoor shower. LOVED the outdoor shower!!! This patio is fully enclosed and open up top to see the stars. Totally secluded and totally amazing!!! Then of course as I mentioned earlier, we had another patio with a hammock that was steps from the beach and what a beautiful beach it was.
The staff here was also among the best I've experienced in Mexico. It's such a great feeling being greeted by your name when you come across any of the staff members. They took amazing care of us, even with the little glitch we had in our room, they were there no sooner than when I hung up the phone.
WiFi was included and I was able to work from the room, at the pool, pretty much anywhere I had my laptop.
Spa was amazing and such a relaxing experience. Lupita has been with their spa for a long time and I highly recommend her for facials or massage!!!
Restaurants were quite delicious as we ate only at the resort during our 3 night stay. We sampled all the dining venues, from their main restaurant Alfredo di Roma where the menu was plenty with many selections of meats, fish, seafood, pasta and definitely pleasing to the palate!!! Wine choices started at about 25US and went up. There were 4 of us and we are big wine drinkers, so we opted for the 25.00 bottles and it was wonderful!! For lunch, the pool side restaurant had an array of different sandwiches, quesadillas, salads, burgers and more. GREAT fish sandwiches and quesadillas and reasonably priced. Breakfasts were set up as an all you can eat buffet and I think was around 20US, HUGE assortment of cold and hot foods, made to order omelets, pastries, etc....
There are 2 pools, one for families and there is another large one for adults as well. The family pool is the closest to the outdoor restaurant and the adult pool does have a bar (no swim up bars at either pool) but the bar at the adult pool was closed during the slow season. There is also a large bar in the outdoor restaurant by the family pool.
This resort is not an all-inclusive and I kind of like the fact that they have kept from that band wagon. Things are very quiet and relaxed here and we had an exceptional time!!!!
Oh, and if you love the iguana's, (I do), there are plenty that hang around and they LOVE eating hibiscus :).

Beautiful beach, great diving from shore- dive shop on beach, food and service excellent; nice spa and tennis courts; rooms good size and very nicely appointed- housekeeping staff also excellent; location only 5-10 minutes from city center by taxi; activities coordinator at hotel very helpful with setting up excursions to Chichen itza as well as ATV adventure in middle of island. Dive shop personnel were extremely helpful- 5 stars.

Intercontinental- Presidente is a nice fading upscale hotel - after check-in we were IMMEDIATELY directed to a desk to sign up for sales pitch to their vacation club in exchange for breakfast and a 24 hour car rental. The "club" gives you a room triple the size and double the ammenities (two sinks, bathtub, sofas & chairs) of non-club members who pay triple the price for a VERY average room. We didn't know that the free breakfast included the company of the salesman. The "club" category room is very nice, but was not available for us as non-club members even though there were several available. The room we paid quite handsomely for was not adequate for three people. Staff is very friendly, english comprehension is marginal. Food is delicious. Plastic bar glasses observed simply being rinsed off and reused. Beach lovely. My son & husband obtained their scuba certification right on site. Seems to be a fun family place with lots of little children. Older children kept us up several nights playing beer pong below our deck. Desk was responsive with each phone call made about the yelling and screaming throughout the morning hours. We paid a decent amount of money for a very marginal room. Members of the vacation club pay less than we paid and get a room triple the size and double the ammenities. The knowledge of it all put a little damper on our vacation which was important to us because our college-age son wanted to go with his friends! I'd recommend the place - the spa was great - again, if they can't read or understand english, they probably don't understand your health issues - point ! If you are not a member of the vacation club, try to pay about $.
Best of Cozumel

We just returned from 6 nights at the InterContinental Presidente. Definitely, if I was going to return to Cozumel, this is where I would stay again. From driving around the island in our rented Jeep, it was clearly the nicest resort on the island.
If you are trying to decide if Cozumel is the place for you, please remember that it is a DIVING island. Everyone there is scuba diving or snorkeling. That also means that the resort is rather low-key because divers don't tend to be party animals. You can't drink and dive!
The food at Presidente is good. We got the Beach Front Superior with Breakfast and that saved us about $37.00 (US) a day. We ate from the buffet for breakfast each morning. The service in the restaurant on the beach is great and they get to know you quickly. The bar is also friendly.
With our beach front superior room we had a nice patio with a hammock, first floor, with a walk right to the "beach." I say "beach" because it's man-made with a wall, and the beach itself is rocky. Also, I like to hear the waves crashing when I'm at the beach, but you couldn't hear it at all because it is so calm on this side of the island. The waves are on the other side of the island. We had an outdoor shower in an atrium in our suite that was amazingly wonderful. Loved that! We both had massages in the spa. Beautiful spa but I though it was expensive.
They are working on the top floor of the south part of the resort where we were. Those rooms were totally gutted. The noise was not a problem.
I would stay there again, no problem.

Wonderful staff and service. Great for a couple looking to get away. The hotel grounds and beach are beautiful. I would definitely return.
