We found a hidden secret. Maya Tankah was great. We are looking forward to going back soon. Staff were very friendly and helpful, the food was great. If you are looking for a place you can relax and be with that someone special this is the palce to go. It is not for those who are looking to party. I do recommend bringing beach shoes. There are many rocks in the water. I would recommend this place to my friends.
Wonderful vacation, even with a hurricane!

This resort is amazing. The beach is beautiful. The seaweed is a little annoying but it can be avoided. The overall location is secluded and perfect for enjoying natural beauty of the area. The food was always good, though there could have been more variety. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the thatched roofs were really neat. There was always someone offering us drinks, which we found absolutely fantastic. The staff knew us by name and went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable. We decided to stick it out through hurricane Dean and even the crappy refuge hotel we were moved to was bearable because the X staff took such good care of us there.
Disappointed

We arrived to find our reservation was not as we made it and the front desk staff was unwilling to make any changes. After a full hour of pleading, begging and explaining we were able to obtain the room we reserved starting with the next day. Food was adequate, although bland and uninspired and very little Mexican--even the orange juice is watered down. The beautiful location is ruined by a facility that needs a facelift and an owner who is interested in something other than the Italian tourism business. As non-Europeans, we felt like unwanted interlopers.

Don't Water The Drinks!

We chose the Maya Tankah to escape the huge AI complexes, but were sorely disappointed by same bland food day in & day out (never saw a tortilla!), watered down drinks (no name brand!) & lack of snorkels. Take your own!!! Beach is gorgeous. As is bay. Toilets on beach are nasty & plugged but still open. For our one week a year vacation, I would choose another place.
