RIU is not 5-star...not even close

If you expect any sort of service, don't stay here. Most of the things people are compaining in these reviews are ablsolutely true. 1) they tried to put us on the construction side of the hotel - we refused 2) the beds are really hard 3) The drinks are weak, no top shelf liquor. 4) you have to make dinner reservations each day or you don't get to eat. The best part about this place was the price, the view of los cabos and the free shuttle to and from the airport. Try a different hotel.

Hotel was great, people were very friendly, nice beach. The only thing I would change is the reservation system for the restaurants. Get in line at 11am to 4pm to make a reservation for one of four restaurants. We had 2 sit down meals that were fine but the buffet is just as good with far more choice.

Great Time!

We had a wonderful time - the restaurant food was good, the buffets were very good for buffets - lots of variety. The Pools were very nice - we especially liked the separate pools for quiet and activity - you can choose the experience. Excellent margaritas - ask for the super or special margarita - you need to tip to get them. Long walk from town on the beach but there are several places to stop on the way.

this was for my son and his new wife. They were on there honeymoon and had the best of everything. They said everything you could imagine was in the room and the ocean view and all of the staff was wonderful very, very nice.

"Looks good, smells bad."

The location was great. The buffets were good. Don't expect a good steak like you would get in the midwest. The major problem was the god awful sewer smell that was present every morning. I don't know why, but every morning the whole place smells like a sewer. Also, although it is all-inclusive, it takes a good tip to get top service. They will serve the top shelf liquour if you ask, but you usually have to slide them a few pesos. Especially on the weekends when they got busy. (Which was more of the spring break party type crowd.) Very peaceful during the week with fun people.
