5 night trip: 3 nights bungalow, 2 nights apartment Bungalows: very nice for the price per night. The only negatives is that the bungalows are a bit outdated, no iron or coffee machine, poor lighting, no hot water, no TV. Just a basic room with two beds, bath, closet, in room safe, small fridge, and table with chairs. Two room apartment in Main building above reception: Much nicer than the bungalows. Two TVs, balcony, kitchenette, Bedroom with two twin beds, and queen size bed just outside the bedroom, table with chairs, small fridge, in room safe, plenty of hot water. Nice view of hotel property from balcony. Overall Kaoba is good. Nice property with plenty of vegetation. Definately not a five star hotel but very friendly staff. Best of all is its location, right at the entrance of Cabarete (20-25 min from POP airport). Lots of restaurants and shopping within walking distance (Cabarete is a small busy town, almost everything is within walking distance). The beach is across the street through one of the many paths. Lots of great restaurants on the beach with many specials on food and drinks late afternoon into the night. Best Bars late night are LAX, Onnos, Bambu. No all-inclusive rates which is good so you get out and explore the town. The restaurant at Kaoba is great. Overall good experience and impressive for a budget hotel.

We switched rooms because the first was absolutely dirty. There were small bugs/ants throughout the bathroom, which may have been due to its first floor location. The second room was cleaner. The trouble was with the water, it was never warm, and when we asked about it at the reception they would just say "It is warm now" but it never was.

I met someone who had stayed there previously who informed to let the water run 10-15 minutes before showering to get some warm water. It was a good location if you don't mind crossing the street to get to the beach (lots of traffic). Also, instead of replacing your towels with new ones, they take them and wash them, then bring them back, so there is a couple of hours you may not have a towel if you need it. It was fine for what it cost but I would probably stay somewhere a bit nicer the next time.

Very nice hotel for the money... people are generally nice and helpful. Would definitely stay there again.
