Charming and Historic, but not that comfortable.

We only stayed at the Melia Hotel for one night, and we were thankful that our stay wasn't longer. The hotel itself was very charming and the walkways and lobby were very neat, but our room was small and smelled musty. Additionally, the bed we slept on seemed like it may have been from when the hotel opened. It was very uncomfortable and there was a lot of street noise which kept us up that night. The plaza just around the corner was a neat place to walk through and spend some time, and we visited the boardwalk, but one day was enough. Nearby Guanica was a much better place to spend more time. The hotel restaurant that was so well reviewed was nowhere to be found...we didn't ask, but unless it is away from the hotel, there did not seem to be a restaurant anywhere near. The rooftop breakfast however, was very nice. The staff for the most part were also very friendly and helpful.

Booked the hotel for a week but after the first night with a lumpy bed, dirty bathroom,
lack of outlets, hot water and very dated furniture I went to the Hilton hotel where
the service was much better. Shame on the X staff for not have try to help
with my legetimate complains. I was given a handicap room, and after complaining
about it then the second choice was worst. No adjustments or intention to help w
the situation.

While the Hotel Melia is fine - the entire city of Ponce appears to be a facade - everything id closed - poeple have all left - once this hotel shuts down there will be nothing left/ Bypass Ponbce at all costs - or maybe drive through and move on.

The Hotel Melia was very charming with a pefect location. The continental breakfest on the roof is a nice treat. The staff was very helpful and friendly. The furnishings in the room were a bit shabby, but we weren't looking to stay in a sterile marble palace. The resturant in the hotel (Mark's) is exceptional. Don't miss it!

The location is excellent, right in the town square. Staff is friendly and honest. Hotel is old but classy.
